yeah.. I think that is what turns me off most about Piper.  I can only do the album in measured quantities and those are either Roger's songs or the more instrumental tracks.  Lucifer Sam was the only song of Syd's on that album that I ever liked.. and still like today.

Pretty close race for me, but Piper > Saucer > More.  I wouldn't want to live without any of the three.

`More' - their last truly psyechedelic release, a beautiful mix of drowsy ballads, heavy rockers and hypnotic instumentals. Actually my personal favourite Floyd album overall.

Still love `Piper' and `Saurcerful', but I don't give them a lot of plays these days, overdosed on them too much many years ago.

The only two PF albums that rarely see the like of day for me are Piper and More. Winner: Saucerful of Secrets.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

"The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" is the greatest prog album for all times, Syd was a genius.

The only thing I don't like about More is that Spanish while eating spaghetti munching. Other than that it has avant garde (Up The Khyber), heavy rock, The Nile Song with Wright conspicuously absent, the exquisitely ironically title Quicksilver. Julia Dream, Cirrus Minor... magnificent.

ASOS is a really good album, the title track benefiting from performances so the live version on Ummagumma...

Piper is PF meets Lewis Carroll. Never going to get another album like this gem of lyricism. Syd's greatest moment (helped hugely by Richard Wright's arrangements - as is the whole band).  But PF as a band had yet to rise to the greatest of heights.

Almost a tie between Piper and Saucerful, but Piper gets my vote. But things would be different if the list had Ummugguma
