I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

They're not terrible (OP) but plain. They're design rather than artwork.

I agree, but I love The Power to Believe though.

These are all appalling (The Power to Believe gives me nightmares) but I thank the kind soul who refrained from posting the cover of Going For the One

Holy Censored, I was not only listening to this album ("War Pigs" to be more specific), but this was the first album to pop into my head upon reading the title of the topic. LOL

Back on topic, I can't think of anything too terrible at the moment. The closest I can think of is this:

He looks at this world and wants it all... so he strikes, like Thunderball!

Minotaurus, German band, their only album Fly Away (1978) has a pretty awful cover, the music is great though, reminds me of Eloy in places, but there are other influences as well. .

Frankly, I don't think the albums covers shown here are so terrible: they're just... like a dozen tons of other cover arts of their times.
I have Michael Och's 1000 Record Covers and a lot of them look like the examples shown in this thread: put a photo of the band or the artist, stick a logo too much dependant of the typographical hype of the times, send the whole to the press and hop! you've got a hundred of record shelves fulfilled of records with covers as interesting as Aunt May's holiday photographs of her trip to Smalltown.

If you ask me, I would rather show examples of the stuff that indie bands can put on their records! I can't stand anymore the so-called experimental bands that just vomited colour pencils on a paper and call it "cover artwork".
Oh, and I still haven't listened to Mars Volta only because of their covers...

One of my favorite German rock bands and the first one I got into. Gamma Ray has got to be the heaviest song these guys ever did. When it comes to the OP, this cover and the Operation cover belong here.

This one could be a nice & perfectly suitable album jacket for some of the middle '70s funk bands as e.g. Ohio Players as well ( I do love Ohio Players, btw) or for some album of the first Yugoslav New Wave of Heavy Metal band Vatreni Poljubac (>the song is from their debut LP that was recorded in Matrix Studio in London, UK, and released in October 1978 on Yugoslav label Sarajevo Disk) but NOT for the prog rock band as Smak as well; just for an illustration how big idiot ought to be that employee in the record company who choosed this cover, here's one song from that album, actually released on German label Bellaphon, in 1978, as an English version of Stranice Našeg Vremena (1978) which means "The Pages Of Our Time", here renamed by the record company as Dab In The Middle Confused
