Hi there,

You might already have read
some of my reviews, but I'd like to say hello to everybody else.
I'm not a genre fascist, more like song orientated. I guess the about 2000 songs in my favourites playlist come from about 700 artists, you know what I mean

This site has gone flaccid now that people have had the gall to become open-minded regarding the various flavors of prog and courtious of others tastes  Pffff.. you are more apt to get a forum 'thanks' these days than cyber knife in the back like you would during the glory days of the site

Anyhow.. you missed the fun... the site has been declawed, castrated, neuteured and PC'd.. but welcome to the forum anyway!!! LOL

Certainly. In no particular order:

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Deep Purpe - Child In Time
Queensryche - Eyes of A Stranger
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Runrig - Maymorning
Ten - The Robe
Threshold - The Box

and many more

Nice start!  if you like Queensryche, there's a good chance you'd like riverside, Haken, Pain of Salvation and Porcupine Tree.  I'm still pretty new and have been sticking mostly to the tops of the Heavy Prog/Neo Prog and Prog metal lists.  The above bands all have melodic vocals, and are creative and dynamic.  Anathema might be something you like too.  Less dynamic and more melodic still, with both male and female vocalists.

Hmmm...do I like Queensryche? They certainly have a few more good songs, but when I look at my special playlist, there are many other bands with more entries. Some of them are not really prog, like Runrig, Tangerine Dream or U2, others like Dream Theater, Threshold and Pink Floyd are. But yes, Haken and Pain Of Salvation have songs in this playlist, too, while I don't know the other two bands.
