The other great CB classic and the first one by CB that I ever listened to. What an intro! What's your take on Decals?

More consistent than TMR (and better IMO) but also harder to find these days.

OOP I think as an individual LP / CD but you can get it in the recent Sun Zoom Spark box (along with Clear Spot, Spotlight Kid and a whole bunch of unreleased material).  Which I don't have but am sorely tempted by.

A classic ...'of course of course'....but I have always been partial to Spotlight and Clear Spot. Those are a bit more accessible  than some of his others. I have a 'burned' copy of Decals thanks to a friend who paid for one of the earlier ones when it was available.
As pointed out it is now available in that new set of discs..Sun Zoom Spark-named after a track on Clear Spot my personal favorite of all Captain lp's.

Lot of neat new instrumental textures thanks to Artie Tripp (as Ed Marimba) on mallet percussion, in place of the 2nd guitar that characterized Trout Mask.  Rockette Morton (bass) also takes a more prominent melodic role, making the whole musical tapestry even more colorful (and tight) than on TMR.   It's kind of a perfection of the TMR formula, but it loses a little bit of intrigue because of the cleanness and tightness of it all - it no longer sounds like a band careening out of control (and then catching itself at all the right times!).  So I dunno how to rate it with respect to TMR, I guess it need not "compete" with that work, just another flavor of ice cream we can enjoy.

My bad Doc. I should have just said "another classic". Tongue
