I'll have to check out some of those others as mentioned but Steely Dan will do for starters

MAGMA
Tool (Salival, while great, doesn't count) EDIT: Also, this was just announced. http://www.yesworld.com/2015/03/yes-progeny-live-from-seventy-two/ I might pick up the vinyl "Highlights" set. Yes were ridiculous in that era. Even though know this is true, since that's what they seem to be content with trying to recreate live year after year... Edited by calm_sea - March 02 2015 at 17:30 |

There's already a Magma boxset: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=23227 ...unless you're talking about these Magma bands: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=4019 http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=5515 ...but I doubt you're talking about the last one (the German Magma), since they released only one LP! Thinking about that, I realize that I never heard about Japanese bands having their discography compiled into a boxset: a Koenjihyakkei boxset would be nice and sweet! |

I do believe that such an extraordinary bass-player that has done for sooooo much according to bass-playing and experimenting with it, whether it be with a Keyboards player, a drummer; or whatever........ I do believe that Hugh Hopper deserves some sort of accolade.
When I listen to Hugh, multiple Worlds open up, he did play alongside some of Prog's most visionary artists, he did 'twist' the instrument to unheard of possibilities, he was a close friend with Alan Gowen ( Two Rainbows Daily solidifies this statement), and really, Hugh has performed for a large percentage of Canterbury artists, even guesting with Mother Gong. Plenty of material to work with right there............and respect........... |

I would like to see a Secret Oyster box set. All four of their original LPs have been released on CD and would make a nice set.
Also, Nova would be great to have in a set. Their first three LPs are on CD but I couldn't find the fourth in that format.
(While looking around I found a nice BOC set with the first three CDs. Amazon has it for $35 and it is very tempting.) |

Celeste, although I have a feeling someone will answer this blog by stating that there is a box set for this overlooked band (some off label from some faraway country).

I have never seen that anywhere. Amazon has it used for 500 freaking dollars. Ouch. None on eBay. I guess I can't blame myself for being unaware. |

You could try keeping an eye on Discogs. There have been copies on there fairly recently at non-silly prices. They are also bringing out a similar box set of their live albums. I believe it's supposed to be released towards the end of this year. Edited by Mascodagama - March 04 2015 at 02:57 |

Rumor has it Edgar Froese owned tapes of every Tangerine Dream concert. Given his recent passing a box with the soundboard recordings from all their 1975 concerts would be a great way to honour him, and a dream come true for the fans! Edited by Bonnek - March 04 2015 at 04:47 |

There used to be two box-sets of his music issued some 8 - 9 years ago: I've got the second one. |
