Chris Rainbow passed away February 26, 2015.

This breaks my heart so much.  I loved this man's voice and songs.  His talents carried a LOT of Alan Parsons Project music.  He was involved with many progressive artists.  Sort of like the progressive rock genre's Brian Wilson.

I, for one, will be listening all day!

Very sad to hear about. I've always found the two Camel albums he was involved in - `The Single Factor' and `Stationary Traveller' - to both be rather unappreciated.

I saw Camel on the 1982 tour (my first ever concert, in fact) with Chris Rainbow on keyboards and taking a lot of the lead vocals.  I remember them playing this, the closing piece from "The Single Factor".  Perhaps a fitting way to bid him goodbye.

He was on Heart's Desire? Heart's Desire/End Peace is my second favorite track of any band anytime.

Hi,

The saddest thing for me on all these "deaths" is how much of the music will die out because it was a hit and no one will remember it and there is not enough written about its strong points that helped define it as something/anything out there.

If I have a sad point in my life, it is that many of these peple will disappear just like another hit on the radio! With the exception that the version of classic hits next year will have 5 less songs, and you will hear things even less!

In the end, I think that we have do more in terms of writing solid articles and critical comments on the work to help define it as time goes by.  I keep doing my best ... and creating articles that many folks here think are nutz, but then ... just an obituary, feels like your local newspaper ... you don't even read it! AND neither do I!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Another great loss!   His appearances on APP albums were always a highlight. I especially loved his work on the title cut of Turn of a Friendly Card, "Since the Last Goodbye", and "Gemini"...I also remember being disappointed when Gaudi came out because Rainbow was not featured on lead vocals on any track. I picked up a cheap cassette of Camel's The Single Factor and was pleasantly surprised to hear his familiar voice. His all-too-brief spot on Freudiana's "Destiny" was a high point of that release, even if the track is less than a minute long. I've never heard his solo releases...I'll have to track those down.

You'll be missed by this fan, Chris Rainbow.

They say bad things come in groups of three. Chris Rainbow, Edgar Froese, and Leonard Nimoy. Sigh. :(

Only know him from 80's Camel and APP. Always sad to hear of someone's passing. This is happening way too often. RIP.

just found out abou this during my first visit to the Runrig website in months.  His real name was Chris Harley and he produced some of Runrig's most acclaimed albums.  In addition to his brilliance with Camel and APP, he had the Isle of Skye in his bones just like Runrig, which is probably why they had such a great relationship.
