well for me its the concept album " Misplaced Childhood " why well that's really a bit of a longish story as some of the lyrics suit myself as its a little reflexion of my own childhood/adulthood the wonderful artwork. musicianship the whole package....

Clutching was my intro to the band, so there's a soft spot. I like Fugazi about as much, but still voted for Clutching.

Fugazi , horrible dark bitter stuff.Love it! not a fan of either the debut or CAS (aside from Incommunicado) . Misplaced Childhood has possibly the best Fish era track Blind Curve but the rest doesn't quite do it for me.

1. Fugazi - The songwriting and execution fulfills the promise of their first album. Great songs, too. 2. Misplaced Childhood - their most cohesive album, with a great flow and also lots of great songs. 3. Script for a Jester's Tear - The sad jester's costume, so to speak, does not yet fit well, but they were working out the kinks. Great title. 4. Clutching at Straws - Good songs, but the bad flow of the album interferes with coherency and my enjoyment. The theme is not particularly interesting. The band sounds great but the material is weak. Clearly, my least favorite of the four.

Listened much to Marillion during my youth times, today the only songs I do care for are: Assassing Bitter Suite Heart Of Lothian Lavender (listening now to this one right now, beautiful melody, brings me beautiful feelings, don't remember the last time I listened to it.) So, MC.

Gotta go with Misplaced Childhood. Best thing they ever did. All four are fantastic though, with Clutching At Straws very close second.

Funny. Clutching at Straws is my favorite Marillion album. Not sure how to describe what i like about it. Maybe it feels a bit more restrained? I don't get an overwhelming symphonic feeling when listening to it.
But Incommunicado is one the lesser tracks for me. I think it is because the main reason i dislike a lot of symphonic and neo music is because i'm not a huge fan of keyboards. At least not as a strong lead instrument.

Script for me. There's just something special about it, particularly the title song, which is perhaps my favourite Marillion song (well, I know very little about Hogarth's era, though). I find it strange that Fugazi is winning this one, since I remember the rating of this albums is stronger for Script and Misplaced Childhood. Plus, I don't actually have that album, but have a few live albums which include most of the songs on the album between them, and I don't remember liking any song from it, except for the title song, and even that one is not entirely enjoyable (first half is so-so, second half is wonderful).

Misplaced Childhood, which has this nice story telling flow. The songs remain always good, and somewhat at the end I really get the goosebumps.
Script and Clutching are close behind. I never liked Fugazi as much as the other three, though I prefer any Fish -era Marillion album to any Hogarth-era Marillion album.

I don't like Script. I think it's too immature. The only very good song, one of Marillion's best for me, is Forgotten Sons. Garden PArty is another good one, but in its whole, the album has never convinced me. I like the remaining three, Fugazi a bit more than the others, but the one I like most is Real to Reel as it contains the best of the first two albums and Cinderella Search from the first singles.
