Good find indeed, but following a quick search on the Internet I found nothing at all about these guys - bandcamp don't even give us the musicians' surnames...and the album was actually recorded and mixed in Milan as long ago as the summer of 1999, so the various participants have probably all vanished off into the ether by now. Seems like something that has been discovered lying around on a shelf in a quiet corner somewhere, dusted off and polished up for a very overdue release...'cos this is actually pretty damn good! - Four excellent meaty slices of spicy Italian prog!

It's on Mellow Records though, is sung in Italian, and has more than its fair share of symphonic touches - so I'd be tempted to throw this over to the RPI boys for an initial spin or two. Maybe andrea can dig out some background info about this sextet for us? Ermm

Edit: We can probably get the info we need from Nicola Galgari, who was part responsible for engineering the album, as well as playing sax on a couple of tracks.

He has a long career in the music industry, a myspace and facebook page (as The Nicola Calgari Quartet). He also has a YouTube Channel:

Busy guy..and a damn good saxophonist too!! Thumbs Up

Shamal, a great band here! Very good musicians, charismatic vocals, nice sax on a few tracks as well! Very unpredictable music!

I think they will be a perfect fit for the RPI tag! I am contacting my partner in the Italian Prog team to get his opinion!

We shall keep you updated!

Is the band going to put the album out on CD soon?

Are the band still active?
