1. Genesis - Foxtrot
3. KC - Starless and Bible Black
2. Yes - Close to the Edge

In that order of how good they are as albums and as bands when they were at their peaks, with Genesis barely beating KC and Yes a distant third.

In lieu of a difficult decision, can I just say that almost everyone who's posted here is right?

Yes: Tales From Topographic Oceans - ... Ha-ha-ha! ... I'm not picking! ("The Ancient" if you put a gun to my head.)

King Crimson: Starless And Bible Black - ... once again, I reserve my right not to pick as it would be unfair to pick between a rocker and a ballad. ("The Night Watch" if you put a gun to my head.)

Genesis: Nursery Cryme - "The Musical Box" (but it really would be unfair to pick based on the amount of content in each track).

Same as Old King Cole in his OP.

Haven't heard Close To The Edge in a while, so it could be my favourite Yes album but it isn't fresh in my mind, so...

Yes - Fragile - "Roundabout"
King Crimson - Red - "Starless"
Genesis - Selling England By The Pound - "Dancing With The Moonlit Knight"
You left a note in your perfect script
Stay as long as you like
I haven't left your bed since
