Respect to Peter Sinfield for the wonderful line in ELP's 'Officer and Gentleman' about central heating on old people's homes.

I don't know French, but Christian Decamps (ANGE) is very passionate about his singing/lyrics.

I voted for Gabriel. I almost voted for Ian. My real vote not on the list is Glyn Havard.

Went for Gabriel, but would probably have gone for Fish had he been listed. Neil Peart is also a very fine lyricist.

Not to open up a can of worms.. but I'm a little surprised at the lack of votes for Waters, given his reputation and, you know, ability to deliver some of the poignant lines out there. Especially surprised at being usurped by Gabriel, who you know, is good & fine, but I've never thought of him as an especially notable lyricist.

One of the best lyrics ever written in my opinion was by David Bowie - 5 years. I have been told that we cannot post whole song lyrics on here, therefore I will respect that. However I think I am allowed to post snippets? The song starts and this without copying I know by heart; "Pushing thru the market
square...... so many mothers sighing News had just come over, we had five years left to cry in..." That was the best lyrical start ever for me and this coming up next is even better, the music tune with this too (same song) "I heard telephones, opera house, favourite melodies I saw boys, toys electric irons and T.V.'s My brain hurt like a warehouse it had no room to spare I had to cram so many things to store everything in there And all the fat-skinny people, and all the tall-short people And all the nobody people, and all the somebody people I never thought I'd need so many people...." Won't type more out of respect and consideration to PA rules, Five Years '76 (HIGH QUALITY) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dPi09iUAnU&index=22&list=PLMyHPEAFkfwOUitOZjeDTu5msYbP3FsXK Edited by Kati - April 05 2015 at 04:42 |

Ian Anderson but I really need to listen to Van Der Graff Generator one of these days. I'm sure I would love Peter a lot.

It's Waters, i.e. Endless River the only song with vocals on that album is the worst track, sounds more like a demo
Even so I love the album and am still so thrilled they released this album too! Gnack, gnack, gnackkk
