Topic: Eloy vs. Hawkwind Posted: April 05 2015 at 22:02 |
Which of these space rock masters is your favorite?
I really like Hawkwind, but my vote goes to Eloy, one of my favorite bands of all time.

ELoy easy. Hawkwind were good once Lemmy left. 1976-80 Hawkwind v 1974-83 Eloy
|
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I have about an equal number of albums from each, which is a few. Vote goes to Eloy.

I own nearly every Eloy album I only own a couple of Hawkwind albums although I like both. Musically Eloy by several country miles but Hawkwind made an impression on popular culture and kids growing up in the seventies that Eloy never got remotely close to. Its a personal choice though.

I saw Hawkwind live in 1970(?) and they were dire.
Not just bad, but numbingly, breathtakingly horrendous. I was also subjected to a very good view of Stacia and it was not a sight I want to see again, thank you.
But I do like Eloy.

I own albums by both bands but it seems that I have to be in a certain mood (?) to enjoy Hawkwind and not so with Eloy.

I chose Eloy easily though I do like some Hawkwind songs. "Psi Power" (actually by the Hawklords) might be my favorite. I'm quite surprised Eloy is winning, let alone by 22-10 at present

I may have said this in similar polls, but these 2 fantastic Space-Prog bands are like comparing Camembert to Brie. Practically the same, but different. I will not cast vote for one over the other because they BOTH mean equally to me (I don't intend to be pompous and arrogant........ )
