As well as "Amused To Death" getting a re-release, this September sees the release of Roger Waters' concert film of "The Wall".

Great, the show was really wonderful, and it would be great to re-live it. The downside for this is that it would seem to put an end to our hopes of having the original Wall concerts by Pink Floyd on a video release. Also, I'm not sure about the extra tour footage within the "movie"... I really hate concert (or rather "tour") DVD's in which they have the songs and then tour footage, or interviews, or whatever, breaking the flow of the music, and then, for a concert of The Wall, that has it's flow perfectly studied by Waters, it doesn't seem to make it any better. Or at least I undersood that's how it is made.

Nothing's ever simple with these things! Show the concert in full, take our money and thank you!

Although I want to see it, my main worry is having to need a piss half way through it. Shocked

Maybe on the DVD there'll be an option to see the whole gig without the extra footage.

And you never know, maybe the Pink Floyd Wall shows will be out on DVD some time after this film comes out?

Yeah, hopefully there will be that option. Just as with the Pompeii DVD, which has interviews and stuff between songs, but if you go into the options you can choose to se the original cut or something of the sort... however, you get to see the whole music film without. Actually, only once did I see the "complete" version, and since then I've seen only the one without interviews. I really hope this one has such an option, for otherwise it would be rather annoying. As for the Pink Floyd original shows... yeah, it might be released some time later, but I feel this other release makes it even a bit less likely. Perhaps if it ended up being released as a two pack combo with both concerts...

I was quite lucky to see The Wall at the O2 on my 50th so I'm quite pleased about the DVD release.

..second thoughts it may just have been any old birthday, not the big 5-0 but anyway I still want it

A 30 second trailer has been put up. It says "A worldwide cinema event" on September 29th with tickets on sale June 19.

I think it'll probably get a DVD release, but we could get even more, we could get a worldwide one day cinema release!

That said, if the only showing is in London I'll wait for the DVD.

But more details to come etc.

You Tube trailer for the film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKMJ6H9SSms so glad I got tickets for the flim. Still on sale weeks after they were available means the dream of seeing this massive film about a concert on a big screen in a near empty cinema!

Well I saw it last night and it's clearly the best thing I've ever seen associated with The Wall.

Maybe it would have been better to have seen it live, but this film goes around the world with it's performances which I don't think I'd be able to afford to do!

Seeing it on a massive screen was incredible. I'd put it forward as the greatest concert movie.

And while there are moments away from the stage, these scenes aren't as mood killing as they'd appear on a forum post.

Although familiar with the album, Alan Parker film and Live At Berlin, this is probably the first time I've actually seen The Wall as it was intended. Yes, I love the live album, but that only gives you half of the story.

And it doesn't include the reworking of the visuals.

And of course a member of the audience had to be escorted from the cinema after getting too drunk and excited standing up and shouting!

Wouldn't have a problem with that, I was on the other side of the seating arrangements anyway, but he started getting excited over the part of the story where it goes fascist! Shocked

And even then he got escorted out before "Run Like Hell". So that escalated quickly!

Thinking about it, the only downside I can see is I haven't got a massive screen and sound system at home, so the DVD might not have the same emotional effect.

But it was a fantastic experience. I really hope some others on this forum managed to catch it.

And as a personal thing, I loved the fact that I watched it in a cinema that hadn't exactly sold out.

This big flashing film about a huge sold out live experience shown in a cinema not even half full.

It doesn't mention that he's also planning a soundtrack album of the movie on triple vinyl and other Deluxe, Discory editions. This mainly concerns the blu-ray but when I find more details I'll post them in this thread.

Roger Waters The Wall is a new film written and directed by RogerWaters and Sean Evans that combines the concert experience of Pink Floyd‘sThe Wall album (as performed on Waters’ 2010-2013 The Wall Live tour) with off-stage ‘road movie’ footage of of the musician and songwriter reflecting on the impact of war on his own family.

The film was shot in 4k and mixed in Dolby ‘Atmos’ and throughout the presentation the concert film is interspersed with documentary scenes of Waters travelling to France to the site where his grandfather is buried, and Italy to a memorial for his father – both lost to war.

The two-disc blu-ray special edition is the one to go for – it features over 95 minutes of bonus footage in total, including the memorable performance of Comfortably Numb at London’s O2 Arena when Waters was joined on stage by David Gilmour and Nick Mason. This edition comes with art cards, a poster and 32-page booklet and is presented in ‘digi-book’ packaging.

Roger Waters The Wall is released on 16 November 2015.

I managed to pick up the DVD of this film today and I've also noticed the live soundtrack CD of the film.

I'll put together a review of the DVD.

I have worked out how to skip to the songs which I'll include in the piece.

I suppose a spoiler is I think it's the best thing Waters has ever done with "The Wall".

And the drumming surpasses the drumming from "Is There Anybody Out There: The Wall Live".

I'll flesh this out, but those are the bare bones I'll be working on. Hopefully finish it by Sunday.

And I also think it's malice out of Roger Waters part that the footage of Gilmour guesting gets put on a more expensive deluxe edition.
