I haven't seen one of these in a while.
I'll give the first vote to Peter Gabriel, with Adrian Belew coming in second.

Ian Anderson. Flute, guitar, harmonica, saxophone, tin whistles, bouzouki, balalaika, mandolin, Hammond, piano, synths, bass, trumpet, violin, percussion and the almighty claghorn.

^ Interesting.

Actual #1 or do you think he's underrated?

^ When I thought of the various prog bands I love, none of their frontmen really stuck out for me except for him.

Y U No mention Peter Hammill?

On topic, I guess Ian Anderson.

Voted Gabriel but where is Phil Collins lol---anyway I do like the spacey Jon Anderson too---he does bring something to the table and he is surely missed.

When I think of frontman I think of entertainment between songs, during songs and such. Not just a great singer but an entertainer, a singer and an emcee all rolled up in one. Gabriel is too monotonous, Collins was the better emcee by far. None of the ones listed impessed me as a frontman. I vote other and that would be Frank Zappa.

Geddy Lee for longevity, but the guy I would have voted for is not on the list.....Phil Collins

Voted Gabriel. Andy Latimer, Peter Hammill and Derek Shulman deserve a mention IMO.
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

How about Steve Hogarth, Neal Morse, Christian Decamps etc. there are too many to vote for a particular one only.

Peter Gabriel, for both his work with Genesis and his solo work.

I giggled a bit seeing Labrie in the list, there are so many vocalists in progressive metal so much more competent and better than him. And even funnier if he will get votes.

Phil had a really good stage personality and I always loved his live banter in between songs. With that said from this list I'll go with Peter simply for the theatrics... but he certainly did give Genesis too much of a "rock theater" vibe for me while I watch them perform live from the early days. EDIT: James LaBrie... maybe if you asked me three years ago I might say yes. Because they were the only prog I knew :P
