Hi fellow progressive melomaniacs,

This is not my first post but I'm still 2 day old here. I live in Montreal Canada and I am 32. I have been playing guitar and bass for 17 years. I also play drums and keyboards.

I've been listening to music non stop since I have been given an Iron Maiden cassette when I was 4. My tastes have expanded greatly since then though. While I can appreciate at least one song in most genres, what I prefer is "extreme metal", jazz fusion and progressive rock & metal. A couple examples of my favorites would be:

Heavier:
Anomalous
Theory In Practice
Blotted Science
Redemptor
Octopus
Behold The Arctopus
Spawn Of Possession
Direwolf
Drottnar
Liquorworks
Trepalium
Dodheimsgard
Peculate
Irreversible Mechanism
Robots Pulling Levers
Meshuggah
Fallujah
VI-X
Gorod
The Helix Nebula
Vildhjarta
Journal
Torrential Downpour
Wormed
Job For A Cowboy
Obscura
Gonin-Ish

Less heavy:
Spiral Architect
miRthkon
Lye By Mistake
1980
Soul Cycle
Planet X
Tritone
Merkabah
Parallaxe
Zhabareth
Halcyon
Freakeys
Conflux
Trioscapes
Virus
Gilgamesh
Shawn Lane
Spaced Out
Morgbl Trio
An Endless Sporadic
Ron Jarzombek
Present
Spastic Ink
W.I.N.S.
Plug-In
Anomaly (Netherlands)
Electrocution 250
O.S.I.
Altered
Technical Info
Gary Willis
Electric Outlet
OHM
Rx
Tribal Tech
Whoopgnash
Special Providence
T.R.A.M.
Project Z
Jakub Zytecki
Tetsuo Sakurai
Cosmosquad
Step In Fluid
Elephant9
Twisted Into Form
Jazz Pistols
On The Virg
Mombu
Panzerballet
Counter World Experience
Xtreme Measures
Jazzsick
Greg Howe
Fond Of Tigers
Alex Argento
Phil Turcio
Johannes Zetterberg
Citriniti

...and a lot more. I guess you get the idea of what I am into. :)

I am always welcome to suggestion and happy to help people find music they can enjoy!

Nice list, check out Zevious, Many Arms and Hyrrokkin. You may like Upsilon Acrux.

Hey! I'm glad to see another huge fan of experimental f**ked up extreme metal!! WOOo!!!

In fact, I'm even happier that some of your "less heavy" bands are too heavy for a lot of people here. :)

I actually have recorded 2 albums with Colin of Dysrhythmia/Behold the Arctopus including one album with his drummer from Zevious, Jeff! And taking guitar lessons from Kevin currently. Haha. Those guys are talented insane people.

ALSO>>> HOLY CRAP>>> Gonin-Ish
I do not know ANYONE that knows this band! That makes me so happy! I freaking love Gonin-Ish. They are SO ahead of their time! It's just insane!
