Talk Talk albums "Spirit of Eden" and "Laughing Stock", both albums are a big influence on many current bands. for example Radiohead, Mogwai, This willl destroy you, etc.
Hollis said on several occasions its minimalist attitude: "The most important thing that can work is silence ... I have always believed that a note is better than two and two notes are better than three, so it is never difficult to choose because you're looking for very small fragments. " |

If we're reaching for works that transcend the genre, have mass appeal and still maintain "prog elements", and we start tossing out Radiohead as a possibility...I don't see how you could possibly not mention Tool. While having a much more "metal-ish" approach, I don't think many would deny that they have much more prog leanings than even Radiohead. And beyond a few singles, not near the press support...yet their albums are virtually revered in many circles both prog and non-prog.

In a way, instant does not relate to classic but this is as far as oxymoron goes.
