I stumbled upon a 70's band from Colombia that called themselves Genesis today. Is this music that might merit consideration here? Have just sampled some bits and pieces here and there, and toss this one out for feedback if anyone wants to have a closer listen.

Thanks for posting this out here Olav.
One for Bob and Ken to check out as a 1st port of call, I reckon. If you agree, then maybe you could include Prog Folk in the topic title so that Bob can spot it? Or perhaps drop a note in their thread. There were three other albums released: 'Yakta Mama' from 1975 'Reuniom' from 1978 and 'El Paso de los Andes' from 1981 Edit: Those three complete the discography accoding to RYM, but looking at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%A9nesis_(band) there were a couple more albums - and a maxi single too. Here are these two other albums: 'En un planeta lejano' (CBS, 1982) 'Absolutamente normal' (CBS/Discos Diamante, 1987) Note the spelling of this Génesis has an accent on the first 'e', unlike the English band of the same name.
