Saw in my local Sunday paper this morning that Yes is playing a nearby Indian Casino in WA. Those are usually the home for washed-up-reformed-70's acts (hmmm) Also saw that today is Bill Bruford's BDay...must be some kind of bizarre harmonic convergence

When you're playing cruises and casinos (and your last album blows) it's time to stop.

I saw the advertisement as well, but I would rather see Yes perform a set of new material than the same old classics again. Sure, the old music is better, but they vary their set list so little, they have been doing practically the same classic Yes tour for twenty years.

If they are getting paid the same as the other venues....what difference does it make..?

Here, here! Indian casinos are where the money is if you're no longer stuffing fans into arenas. Wish I could have seen Jon Anderson a couple of years ago at the Pala Casino down near San Diego, but it was pricey. |

^ I saw Jon Anderson on that same tour, completely solo, in an old theater in Napa, so Yes might not be playing exclusively at casinos or cruises or whatever. It's wherever the fans will go. Personally, I don't care about the actual venue; the main thing is the performance of the music, and if it is in a casino, concert hall, living room, or back alley dive it doesn't matter as long as it is a good show.

Yes hasn't been relevant in decades. After 90125, who cares anymore really?

I also saw that in the paper......sad to see. I would do the Cruise To the Edge, but for the other bands. Seeing Steve "Skelton" Howe on stage might give me nightmares, he needs to cut that hair off too

well, I expect this will be greeted with howls of derision, but I saw Yes in Las Vegas last year and it was a really good show.
Bring it on, guys. I can take it. |

I care. Even though I burned out on seeing them they are still one of my favorite bands. As long as they have fans, they are relevant. It doesn't matter whether they find their way to the top ten, or perform to tens of thousands every night. And they have put out plenty of good music since 90125.

I like the way he looks, like an old professor, gently wizened, or maybe Dumbledore's brother (not the one in the story). Nice to contrast him to the whale Chris Squire has become. Kidding! Actually, I like Squire's look too, like, well, a squire. And besides, what does appearance have to do with the music?

That's all that is important - a good show.
