Okay then, I've run through 50 great progressive blues songs in four separate polls. I've picked the top vote-getters from each poll to see which song you think is the bestest blues, progressively speaking, on PA. This time, it's a single vote poll so we don't get any voting anomalies (or least none unless you have multiple sign-ins, which isn't unheard of here

You aren't the first to make this comment, but as a guitarist I will simply have to disagree with your assessment. "Shine On" is a progressive composition with blues guitar overlaying it; in effect, David Gilmour has used a prog-rock song as a vehicle for playing blues leads. But rather than rabbit on about the blues-based chording, read this: |

This is a weird poll. I went with Hendrix Voodoo Chile which is far and away the bluesiest track on the list. I'm just not sure it's prog. Trower is the only other track that really sounds bluesy to me but again, is it prog? I'd have voted for Bridge of Sighs if it was on the list. I'm also not sure that bluesy guitar can make a track a "blues" track. I'm inclined to think not. Just an opinion.

Went with a non-prog band again in support of The Blues - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, more proggy than many of the other tracks listed, and there are a lot of great tracks here. Great series!

You've come late to the party. There have been four polls already and this is the final vote. "Bridge of Sighs" was in a previous poll and did not make the cut (which is a shame really, as it is definitely a progressive blues piece). But the question is not necessarily "is it prog", but it is progressive blues, i.e., has it progressed beyond the standard 12 bar blues and morphed into something different. Not completely different, but still recognizable as blues. As far as your comment that nothing but Trower and Hendrix are "bluesy" to you in this final poll, I, being short of patience, would simply ask how is "When The Levee Breaks", "Oh Well", "Whippin' Post", or "Rattlesnake Shake" not "bluesy" to you when they are, in fact, acknowledged blues songs? The bands acknowledged they are blues songs, critics review them as blues songs, other musicians play them as blues songs. So, no, this is not a "weird poll", I would simply suggest you study blues a bit more. Perhaps a lot more.

Have to agree. Any song with a dim7 chord in it is entering jazz/prog territory. At any rate, I went with Riders on the Storm. Love that song.

Except David Gilmour is playing G minor pentatonic blues scales, and dim7 chords are found throughout blues tunes (see standards like Albert King's "Born Under a Bad Sign", or any number of Robert Johnson songs featuring dim7 chords in a circle of fifths). Get back to me when you understand what you're talking about.
I suggest you do some research before spouting inanities. The song is not blues, but how could I actually expect you to read what I said previously? It is a prog song with blues lines running all through it. It is the best example of a prog song relying on blues chording and structure - a rarity in prog. Here, directly from PINK FLOYD ONLINE: “In ‘Part III’ (6:29), a hint of the funeral mood of the coda is heard in the somber horn melody of the next blues transformation – now a slow straightforward G-minor blues 12-bar…” And also from the damn engineer of the album itself regarding Part I: "On the finished record, Part I commences with the looped sound of wet fingers rubbing wine glass rims, originally recorded for an album titled Household Objects. Rick Wright then builds on this with a Hammond organ as well as the synth sounds of an EMS VCS3, ARP Solina and Minimoog before Dave Gilmour plays an extended G-minor blues solo on his Fender Strat." I can give you another 20 or so references, but I still don't think you'll get it.

Gonna have to go with Levee. Every time I hear it, it sounds like Bonham's gonna make a hole in the bass. Probably the ultimate LZ song besides Achilles.
P.S. anyone who says Shine On isn't fit for this poll has never heard the solo. That is blues at heart.

There's not a song on that list that I don't like....some of those are favorite tracks for me....but in the end has to be Whipping Post ...imho it epitomizes the blues with a progressive bent.
Tull and Zep are close seconds for me.
