Entangled all the way.  A clever song with an absolutely haunting ending.  My favorite from A Trick of the Tail.  Quite frankly, I find Watcher of the Skies a bit dull, especially the long intro.

LOL How much we all hear the same things in a different way! In my opinion, that spacey 'tron perfectly fits as an intro of the song titled Watcher Of The Skies and that's the best song at Foxtrot (imo), so my vote goes to that one.

Watcher of the Skies is the classic, but I like Entangled better...
He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore

Watcher of the Skies. The phenomenal bass work is stunning, Banks' keys fit the song perfectly and Hackett's guitar screams in anguish as he experiments with what would become his trademark sound.

Agreed. My favorite 'Tail' tune as an intro to Squonk. The beginning of Watcher' works best on Genesis Live with the enthusiastic crowd response. In the studio, it's old hat.

Entangled is sublime (if you ignore the lyrics) It gets my vote.

Watcher is an excellent song and a very strong album opener. That mellotron is superb.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Well, as I already said, we all hear different, and that's okey.. For example, Watcher Of The Skies is the only track from Live the album that works for me at the same level of expression as the studio version; unlike Musical Box which works to me far better at Live (imo).

Both are great, but Watcher of the Skies is one of the tracks that makes Foxtrot reaching #2 in my top 10.

Watcher Of The Skies by miles. Like Svetonio, I find it well spaced out, but nowadays I get bored of Entangled whilst WotS has kept growing on me. The chorus and the outro of Entangled aren't musically that great, and I'm rarely in the right frame of mind for it, but both are still great Genesis songs

Agreed. The same with 'Giant Hogweed on Genesis Live. And Mr. Collins' drums sound snazzier on that version also.

Two superb tracks, but Watcher was the 'signature' Genesis piece that drew me in initially - most likely due to the incredible Mellotron intro and Rutherford's amazing bass lines.
Having said, I also think very highly of Ripples - subtle, yet extremely powerful.

Good poll, because the two tracks get almost the same amount of votes (while I write this).

For me: Watcher Of The Skies, especially in the Genesis Live version where everything is more fluid and the mellotron intro is so great.
But both songs are fantastic, and belong to the best that Genesis has done.

Handshake  Indeed, experience and preference is individual.  Nothing wrong with that.
