I'd say it is kind of like Tool, not in actual sound but the mixing of alt-rock and progressive metal. 
The atmosphere and some of the instrumentation is very power metal prog'ish but its thrown in a pretty accessible structure with a slap in the face chorus. 
Crushed like a rose in the riverflow.

Basically. I've heard lots of songs that sound similar but can't think of anyone specific. Sounds like something that might have been popular when I was in high school.
