As for example, Komandant posted aujourd'hui a great suggestion that is vintage, exclusif, delicat, et aussi avant-garde. Messieurs et Mesdames, A Day Of Wrath by Family Free Rock.. http://progshinerecords.bandcamp.com/album/a-day-of-wrath

Not sure that Robert Wyatt - Comus will get many people voting. GG - Khan and Gong - NH look the toughest for me to call. Can Henry Cow beat a 2nd tier Yes album?

of course I'm looking foward to several in particular..

the death matchups that are Discipline v. Mirage, Future Days v. Uomo di Pezza, Hamburger Concerto v. The Rotters Club and one that should be close, a real barmstormer in theory as well as notes per second LOL. Area v. the Mahavishnu Orchestra

that doesn't even count the non heavy weight matches that could be damn intersesting.. I will interested to see how the RIO twins do..  both should be underdogs.. but both could win.. I'd love to see a  3rd round match between the Cow and UZ..

speaking of that.. looking forward to possible great 3rd round matchs based on how close some of the 1st rounders were.  Do Aja and Eros meet again..  that frickin Hacket album against Squire but without Wakeman there to steal Squie votes?  YS v. Script for a Jestors Tear?

really liking what we have coming up!!

What stage are we at? First round over yet? A lot of polls and listening to catch up on. Many bitter and eloquent debates to squash bug-like with my arbitrary taste.

Edit: I can read, I've just become lazy in my old age - second round for the classic stuff? Oh god the bracket's confusing me. aaaaah. I've been listening to folk music for like the past two years, all this fancy numerological nerdery baffles me LOL

well holy hell ...look what the cat brought in LOL

Great to see you around Rob! Clap

The brackets are a bit confusing for the 1st round.  From 2nd round on it will be straightforward.

We have both classic and modern 128 album contests. The first round of the classic is done, the moderns finish this weekend (saturday)

Good to see you around.  During my vacation from the site I toured the states as a bassist in a Celine Dion tribute band.  Not very rewarding musically.. but hey.. it paid the bills. LOLEmbarrassed After that I felt the prog bug again and decided (what was it.. 4 years gone) to come back.  Thanks to the modern polls.. I see just how much I've missed haha

Dragged in and spat out on the carpet - good to see you too LOL I've become a folk singer/guitarist and poet in my sabbatical and now only want I, IV, V chords and mendacious nationalism in all music ever. My fiancée's just picked up spotify again so we can get some wedding music sorted. Cometa Rossa is on the list Wink

Having voted in all the polls, here are some personal stats. I voted for albums in the following subgenres:

SUBGENRE: CLASSIC/MODERN/TOTAL
symphonic 11/4/15
crossover 5/5/10
Canterbury 7/0/7
RIO/avant 0/6/6
neo 3/2/5
eclectic     2/2/4
heavy 0/3/3
jazz rock/fusion 0/3/3
Rock Progressivo Italiano 1/2/3
electronic 1/0/1
various 1/0/1
Zeuhl 1/0/1
experimental /post metal 0/1/1
prog folk 0/1/1
prog metal 0/1/1
psychedelic/space 0/1/1
tech/extreme post metal 0/1/1

Maybe it's interesting to do for others as well to test your own taste.
I see that in the modern polls my preferences are much more fragmentized than with classic prog.
Further on, in this new age of prog, RIO/avant and jazzrock/fusion seem to have taken the place of Canterbury in my personal hitparade.
In real life, I'm quite an RPI fan, that doesn't come out in the stats.
Once again, thanks to Micky and all the people behind the (computer) screens for making the polls happen.

Clap and my thanks to everyone who helped put the modern lists together. That was truly a group effort with a lot of great suggestions.

I'll have to tabulate my votes by subs, I just have poll #32 to do and I'm doing that tonight. I have a feeling my votes did really come out on the RIO-Avant side which is not surprising since it, along with Xover, is ground zero of modern prog these days. My tastes have shifted I supposed and I tend to dig the more out there groups that those who are a bit more... ummm...  song based. As I've said, 5 years ago I would have been Xover all over the place and f**k the strange stuff...but my tastes shifted a bit while away from the site and  I have really made an effort to get into it and it doesn't hurt that my two prog mentors at the moment are the two leading lights of Avant prog here on the site LOL
