I'm not surprised.
Total immersion into new music. Quite surprising that prog had changed that much. All this independent/avant/underground kind of stuff. It's some sort of new prog paradigm/

it has what I have been preaching.. it is a new world out there. The clone/recycle sh*t is still out there.. but only for the fans of it.. those stuck in the past... the future of progressive music is on full display and sounds little like old school prog.  Exciting times indeed for music fans.

The big thing is, I think, that none of the newer prog bands seem to care about commercial success.
The 1980's bands still dreamed of having a record contract with a major record company.
The new bands are like what the Cardiacs already preached in the 1980's. Just do what you like and **** the rest of the world.
They seemed so strange and out of place in the 1980's, those Cardiacs. Now they are regarded as pretty cool, which is justice being done.

^ I think it is a realization or acceptance more to the fact that the musical 'world' has changed..  music for the love of it.. not a meal ticket to fame and riches

the days of private airliners and mansions are dead.. along with the major labels that helped make them possible.  It is the age of artists and audience..  the middlemen are ..if not dead.. inconsequential.

artistic freedom musicians now have... but the trade off is that fleets of Rolls-Royces and big mansions aren't going to be thereLOL

man those are some sick 3rd round matchups! Clap

normally I have waited till the tiebreaker was done to start the new ones.. but it might take all day for either of those to get to 10.. so I'm just going to roll with the new polls and bump that tiebreaker poll and keep it visible.

That's going to be a brutal 3rd round. Get hype. If Camel beat Pawn Hearts and Rush beat The Rotters Club I'm going to leave the site for another five years LOL

no way Mirage will beat Pawn Hearts...  unlike last round.. I will not be browbeat by my better half and will proudly vote for f**king CamelLOL  but it won't be enough.

that Rush-Hatfield match is a semi repeat of the 1st round.. without 2 other albums to draw off votes. I see that being a nailbiter down to the last votes.  I see 3 of those. The Aja v. Alphabet Album and Third v. Scheherazade being the 3 I think will be the closest.

potential upsets...

A Salty Dog over Palepoli?.. their 1st rounder was tight

Squire over Hatchet?...  Squire + Wakeman 1st round votes > Hatchets even though Hatchet won the first meeting.

Illusions on a double dimple over Birds of Fire?  That would be my pick for upset of the 3rd round. I've been wrong about that album for both the 1st and 2nd round. Beat albums Vegas thought would beat it. First over Area (though in a systematic tiebreaker) and then over Caravan

Well, I hope Mirage will beat Pawn Hearts.
Hopefully Hatfield will win too...
And Rock Bottom...

But the polls have already showed some surprises...

I'm predicting 3 upsets... including 1 of my beloved albums going down CryLOL

I figure... if I was to handicap them... 3 that could go to the last votes...  some really awesome matchups.
