I'll think it over some more...  we have two weeks before the 4th round starts. Someone has a better means to my end... I'm all ears.. if more people have a problem with this.. I'll be all ears.

I'd leave it the way it was micky, it's just a bit of fun, no need to start seeding ranking into it, don't mess with something that's working.

Thumbs Up hey... I can take criticism..  even when unintentionally earning it hahaha.

I suppose I should be used to it. I have always had the ability to offend when not intended.. a well as failing to offend when I meant TO do so.

Go figure LOL

so with SWilson and Radiohead gone.. 2 of the 4 I thought had a chance to win it over the heavy pre-tournament favorite. The PT album

who left.. has a decent chance beat PT..  I still really only see two

Talk and Talk and Anglagard

I see the Modern final being Anglagard v. PT/Talk Talk QF winner

I only see Anglagard as a real thread though I'm rooting for Ozrics.

early predictions on the 4th round battles.. wow there are some great match ups there

The 4th Round Classics:

Aja over Ommadawn... likely tight but Aja has beaten 3 higher regarded albums (Eros, Bitches Brew, the Alphabet Album) than Ommadawn.

Pawn Hearts over Palepoli.... likely not close.. but the better album doesn't always win. You learn to accept things like that here at PA's hahah

The Rotters Club over Birds of Fire....  the ghost of Area finally catches up with Birds of Fire. It should have never made it this far hah!

YS over Hot Rats.... I can see this one being one of the tightest of the 4th round. A slight upset.

Voyage of the Acolyte over Ceux du Dehors....  this one likely will be over in the 1st hour of voting haha Angry

Rock Bottom over Yeti...  another contest I see being very tight..  Rock Bottom edges Yeti by a single vote

Octopus over Scheherazade....  close early... Octopus pulls away at the end

Storia di Minuto over Crime of the Tournament...  a nail biter. but good tastes and the far superior album pull away at the end.

The 4th Round Moderns:

Hybris over Viva Koenji....  likely over in the first hour of voting

Five Suns over UTotem...  the power of Assaf loses out the power of Ian

Vemod over Sleeping in Traffic pt. 2... one of the few ho-hum 4th round battles IMO.

Detta Har Hant over Part the Second.... the slayer of Radiohead easily moves into the QF's

De-Loused in the Crematorium over Unfolded like Staircase....  very tight and decided by a few votes

winner of the Perils/1000 Autunni tiebreak over Jean Louis...  tight, mainly due to fewer votes.

In Absentia over
Jurassic Shift.... the Ozrics get welcomed to...  machine..

Spirit of Eden over The Shaming of the True...  likely over by the 2nd hour of voting..

Ommadawn > Aja, really don't get Aja
Pawn Hearts > Palepoli, PH is probably the favorite in this field
Rotters > MO, top 10 all-time album
YS - HR, need to listen to both
UZ > Hackett, though I expect to lose heavily
Yeti > Wyatt, this should be tight
GG > Scheh... , much much prefer the GG album
Storia > Supertramp - much prefer the Italians here, though COTC was one of the main albums of my youth

Koenji > Hybris - yes I know I'll lose but its a better album to these ears
Guapo > UTotem - love both, glad to have a great Avant album in the Qtrs, 5 Suns all the way baby!!
Vemod > Sleeping, meh, I guess a Crimson clone (at least this album) is better than ennui
GBS > Maudlin - wanted Radiohead in here but GBS is good enough for me
Disciplne - TMV - both ok albums, coin toss, no idea yet
Jean Louis > whoever - this is the darkest of dark horses in this field
Ozrics > PT - lets get ssppaaacceeeyyy!!!
TT > Shaming - though hardly excited by either

last tiebreak vote just came in.. by a split 2-1 decision. Perils moves on to the 4th round.  Shame there had to be a loser in that one.

Updated bracket...

Alrighty!!  After a nice break...  the battle of the albums contest resumes!  Today the 4th round kicks off, for both classic and modern.  With the holiday weekend next weekend .. we'll let these polls run for two weeks. All the better to get the maximum votes since the 4th round is where things really get serious as the creme of the albums have started to rise to the top.

so on that note.. .let the 4th round begin!

Ommadawn > Aja
Pawn Hearts < Palepoli
Rotters > Birds of Fire
YS > HR
UZ =/= Hackett
Yeti < Wyatt
GG > Scheh
Storia > Supertramp

I have very few opinions in the moderns. Koenji have released two of my favourite albums ever but I think the one representing them is not as strong as Nivraym or Angherr Shisspa.

I've got two don't-need-to-listen choices on the classics because I think Hot Rats has the emotional density of a fart and that the PFM album, while occasionally so light on the touch, lyrics and vocals that it's barely there, steamrolls anything other than the title track off Crime of the Century. La Carozza di Hans being a highlight. The rest are all subject to a listen.
