Topic: Inior (Italy) for Neo Prog Posted: June 27 2015 at 00:43 |
Inior was founded in Rome. In 2014, they released their debut album "Hypnerotomachia".
Although this band is from Italy, IMO they DIDNT DESERVED to be suggested for RPI because they sung at their debut album [which is musically just great] in English so i suggested the Inior for Neo Prog.

Hey there Komandant, I work on the RPI team, so I'll at least give them a listen when I get home still. Singing in English is not a total deal-breaker for us, although it does rob the music of a pretty important RPI quality we prefer (as do most people who like the RPI groups!

I'm giving them a whirl this morning and throw my two cents in as well.

My gut instinct is definitely a `No' vote for RPI.
In addition to those English vocals (again, we've added bands that sing in English like Psycho Praxis, but they both musically and vocally STILL sounded very much like what we're looking for), there is nothing much at all that suggests anything close to RPI musically. They have a very modern sound, completely devoid of any of the classical/theatrical elements that might interest us, and on their website/biography there's no mention of any Italian bands as influences (they cite VdGG, Yes and Dream Theater though).
However, the band is exceptionally talented players, and although the vocals are a little draining for me, the album sounds very well done.
I just wouldn't know where to propose them to, though...there's quite a lot of heavy elements in there, but perhaps not quite enough to interest that group?

Ok, I'm going to throw them into Neo. I gave them a few listens and don't have a strong opinion of yes or no. We'll throw it to the team and go from there.
