Yes, not much love for the John Greaves/Peter Blegvad classic which suffered at the time from being released by Virgin on the same day as 'Never Mind The Bollocks' - (another smart move, Richard Branson).

I could be wrong man... I do think it might be more of a hidden gem.

I'm not a dummy.. and have spent 100's of hours on this site and on the internet scouring for hidden gems...

and only heard of the album last year....

maybe I'm wrong.. and perhaps I was just an aberration. I'd be curious... just how many people knew of this album.. how many had heard it... how many have it.

Well, ReR have just remastered it, along with an accompanying book written by Blegvad.  It is a hidden gem, probably because Virgin didn't know what to do with it and by then, they were already throwing the prog bands off their roster once Branson saw his first punk.

^I've heard it before this poll but don't own it. I like it but don't love it.

The blurb from the ReR website:

The classic restored. No extra tracks, just this legendary release as it was originally conceived. Kew Rhone was made soon after Peter and John left Henry Cow, at Carla Bley and Mike Mantler’s Grog Kill studio in New York (they both appear on the CD). Fellow conspirators included singer Lisa Herman and drummer Andrew Cyrille. It’s one of those records which sums up a moment; a creative moment in which ideas have come into clear focus, and just need to be got down; an historical moment at which an innovative, collaborative run of cultural luck is about to run out. It couldn’t have been made earlier or later, we’re just lucky it got made at all.

that of course might explain why I was a late arrival... it wasn't really until the Romantic Warriors movie on that whole scene that really stimulated my interest in that whole scene and its artists.  Still taking baby steps in that, with Ian and Raff's help, a bit out of my comfort zone.

I did fall hard for Kew Rhone though... I do need to order this remaster!

If I recall, James was a big fan of Kew Rhone.  I remember people talking of it in the Shred way back in the day, and I think that he was a motivator behind that.

I can't remember where I saw it mentioned.. but it was recently since I came back to the forum..and it definitely wasn't the Shred.   I do seem to recall it was Pat that mentioned it

Darwin is a classic for me while the others are not so much.
