	Very sad, yes. Some other threads on the site mentioned his passing away as well. Quite a shock, his death, even though we knew he was ill. It was only 6 weeks ago that he was diagnosed with leukemia. My favorite bass player ever. Keeper of the flame in my favorite prog band.

	Like you said, a very sad day for Prog music, one of the most beloved bass players. He was and astounding performer and composer, had the pleasure to see him playing live in San Diego a few years back, after the show his gran kids stormed the stage for the final salutes, that shows you the kind of person he was.

	Along with Jack Bruce, and Motown's James Jefferson, Chris Squire defined bass and probably increased Rickenbacker 4001 bass sales by a 100%, even more than Paul McCartney did who is more known for his song writing than bass playing. Seriously, will Yes be able to continue as the last original member is gone and contributed to the Yes sound in a major way in every recording they produced? They may still have Steve Howe and Alan White left from the classic period, but will this justify Yes continuing on. Their last recording had some good prog moments at the beginning, but went into a slick pop direction in the last half.

	This hurts more knowing that I'm seeing Yes in two weeks. Chris, you were the reason that the bass guitar became popular. There were more than 500 kids who thought the bass was the most unnecessary instrument in the band until they heard Roundabout. You modernised the style. RIP, see you on the south side of the sky.

	I don't know what to say... these musician deaths in the past 5 years have really affected me... (bob welch, daevid allen, kevin ayers, george duke, just to name a few...) I watched this yesterday and cried my eyes out, then banged my head a bit, then smiled. This is how I want to remember...Such precision, such power, such tenderness and soulfulness in playing and singing. Just amazing.

	^ none hurt more than George Harrison that hurt on more than just a musical fan level but on a spiritual level as I was quite inspired by him to take up my own spritual path. Raff still can not believe I actually lasted 6 weeks as a vegetarian.. my ex-wife (the spawn of Satan herself) finally broke me after 5 weeks of feeding me canned vegetables. She was f**king hot... but damn.. not the most emphatic or supportive of spouses Bob Welch.. that one really hurt as well as I am a huge fan of his and his work with Fleetwood Mac. Squire would be on the Welch's level.. a musician I admired so completely and so tragically taken too soon. However few in my mind reach Harrison's level... a much deeper connection transcending mere music... .really only Willie Nelson would do that. The day we lose him, a living piece of Americana.. 	Very sad news. In honour of the great man I am listening to the last Yes live releases. I am so glad I saw them in Melbourne recently as Squire was fantastic. Here's to the big Fish. Never to be forgotten as one of the great bassists.

	Squire is among those I will miss the most. Also among them are Jon Lord, Richard Wright, and B.B. King. I am also with Mickey about George Harrison. More will come, of course, and we can only honor our favorites by maintaining their musical legacy. Great video clip, Cemego!

	Very sad news and easily by several country miles the best prog bassist imo and one of the founding fathers of prog creating a style and sound that was and still is his very own. Love you Chris and happy progging in the afterlife. There is some amazing stuff going on there no doubt!

	Just to add to the thread. Chris was a fantastic bassist and a massive influence on me, musically. Most of my early years - from about 1974 onwards - were spent listening to him. The great thing about music is that your legacy lives on, you're not 100% dead if someone remembers you. Thanks, Chris. Sadly missed.
