most of the motive of those polls was to encourage exploration.. not as much to vote for those you do know.. it was to check out stuff you might like from those you don't. Besides we all know it is going to come down to a SWilson v PT final. It is the journey and the friends you meet along the way that matter with the moderns.. not the distination... a vast mirage...some overhyped soul squeezing corporate entity that only cares for your money and leaves you emotionally bankrupt and soul thristy for something with passion, quality and validity.

hah... LOL Wink

Ok, Micky, chalenge accpeted, I'll go on the polls!

Going back to the OP, simple answer is in my experience no but then out there in the real world not too many straights are either. When I met the love of my life she was rifling through the prog bins in our local record store and from memory she is the only female friend of mine who was ever that way inclined musically. Otoh the guy who probably had the most influence on me as a young bloke re lets say alternative music was bi. However from my experience that too is a rarity, though plenty of my gay friends from years back were into the likes of Roxy Music, Bowie and/or Lou Reed. Maybe its a peer group thing ? All I really know is that I'd never diss someone who shared my love of music simply because they were gay. Rather have a gay friend who loved the music than a homophobe.

Prog is only for nerds, be they heteros or homos.  The malaise of nerd-itude knows no gender.  Whether prog actually attracts people with a different sexual orientation is a different question  altogether, but on the evidence of the Baldies I would say yes.  After all, it's more a question of whether you wish to welcome the dreaded prog in your life, not whether prog can accept you in its fold.  Prog is always out there, waiting silently, patiently for listeners.

Well put. The implication being that once you accept Prog as your personal lord and saviour you're not likely to get laid be ye straight or gay. Smile

I get your drift, but that only goes for people who convert entirely to prog and then denounces every other musical style ie the music nazis. You meet them everywhere; prog, metal, hip hop. Folks who can only stomach one unequivocal truth, which is, that every other musical effort out there is crap.
I love prog myself and I have never had trouble wooing the opposite sex, or the same for that matter, but then again I happen to adore jazz, electronic and pop too.
Again, I have no real idea how prog goes down with gay people other than the ones featured on this site, but regardless of the kind of thing you're looking for in your love/sex life, it always pays to be openminded with music....and life in general.

Scratch that; I made the mistake of replying seriously to a joke

Agreed, because they shouldn't have asked a young pubescent girl to pose naked for the album cover. She was still a child.
Wonderful album BTW

True, Moogtron III, she was only 14 years old at the time I believe. In regards to the moozik ditto! It is really good on this album.
More Hug

Yes, although she really wanted to pose and the parents consented, but I still don't like it.

You nshould look at the PoV of the times... I'm sure nobody thought wronng... It's just the zeitgeist of back then.

Either way, BF and Virgin Killer don't shock me the least... because I don't think of them in a naughty way...

Agreed Hugues.
I always found the Blind Faith cover very innocent. It's just that in todays day and age things have become so politically correct that you can't make a peep without having an ornitologist on your back for ridiculing a certain type of bird.

In any dane age in my opinion that cover is not appropriate. She was only 14 years old, topless on an album cover, that is sexual exploitation of a minor.
Hey I am one that actually thinks that all this censoring of stuff is silly stupid but in that case I think it's a bit much really, the fact that she is still a child makes it wrong.

I will not post the cover here, it's a visual image I do not want to see. In case others have doubts here is the album cover in discussion here. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/zW_tBcy8skw/hqdefault.jpg

^ That's cool - NOT the cover - the fact you disagree with that whole idea. I got rid of the album, that cover was sooooo bad taste, appalling to say the least - and what's with that 'mercurial' looking aeroplane thingy she's holding ??? All kinds of wrong. The guy who came up with the idea needs to be castrated.
I do believe there's an alternate cover showing the band, like what picture was inside the gatefold. It is a very good album, with Do What You Like being one of the coolest songs from '69.
