I have the impression that from the two albums after Gabriel left Genesis, Los Endos is a favourite song (and the favourite instrumental) they did. However, I do love the combo of songs Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers - In that Quiet Earth. I don't know if some of you may consider it unfair to put two songs against one, so to speak, but for me the Unquiet Slumber in that Quiet Earth combo works as one whole song, and either one of them separated will be strongly dimminished.

This is so difficult! Love both and agree that Unquiet/Quiet Earth are one---Go with Los Endos today although I think it's more a summery of the album then an independent song like the other.

^ Yeah good point Los Endos is an incredible summary of ATOTT. Whilst Unquiet Slumbers...In that quiet earth has something combined and special.

I know I know the key word is instrumental not album climaxes but I cannot think of Slumbers and Earth without the segue into Afterglow. Given that Dukes Travels/Dukes End also includes lyrics for me then there are three wonderful album enders to consider. None of which is meant to detract from Los Endos. I love 'em all but DT/DE is for me a bit special.

Los Endos I guess, but love both choices. Both are examples of just how good Genesis were at that time.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Los Endos, especially in a live version (as on Seconds Out).

I love both, but Unquiet Slumbers is still an easy pick.

Awesome instrumentals, but i chose the couplet since i usually put those with Afterglow and consider them one full song... one that is my personal favorite of the four-man era and of all time (either behind or ahead of Supper's Ready actually)

I go with Unquiet Slumber..., I always just liked it better. And indeed they sound like the same with Afterglow, too, which I also love... but being such a long instrumental beginning for such a short vocal song, I find it more difficult to consider them part of the same song.

Los Endos quite easily. I do, however, take the triptych of Unquiet Slumbers/In That Quiet Earth/Afterglow as one epic entity. Man, thinking about it now, Wind And Wuthering is a superb album........

Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers...In That Quiet Earth seems a little more substantial to me. Both are excellent.

I don't remember the live version on Seconds Out so well, but I do love Hackett's version on Tokyo Tapes.

Unquiet Slumbers' has more depth than Los Endos, a song whose legacy unfortunately became tainted when Phil Collins gave it the big band treatment on that A Hot Night In Paris album of his (reconfigured into The Los Endos Suite). As much as I love the guy, I wish he hadn't have done it.
