I didn't care for the Vander Plas, sounded like generic prog metal to me. Discipline were very retro but good retro. Not a strong group of four IMO but I went with MoeTar.

two songs.. and you are out. i'm not particularly inclined to traditional prog metal... that said ...Vanden Plas was sure a helluva lot better than DT!!! The singing and songwriting is so much better but still... it lacks something that might make someone like me really get into it. That something for example that Symph X has in spades...
Discipline doesn't need the vote and my favorite from them wasn't selected anyway..
anyhow giving the vote to Moetar and Moorea.. very impressive first two albums and hopefully she and the group will be a creative force and dynamic presence for many years. Indeed a wonderful person to chat with, as well as to watch and listen sing her heart out.

Moetar I think. VP a bit to metal for me. I suspect H of I would grow on me with a few more listens cos it is very tasty, my number two. Discipline hardly needs any help.
Damn it all .... I'm still listening to H of I and oh yes it is most definitely doing the job.
Still listening. Original intent is wavering. Damn I need a sock puppet.
Herd it is I'm afraid.

You might want to try VP's second album, The God Thing. I'm not sure it'll have enough of that something but it's definitely your best shot.

Right, time for Moogtron's Mighty Mumblings:
The Herd of Instinct: sort of a modernized Traffic jam. I mean... you know, not the cars in a row, or early Status Quo, but the band Traffic. Discipline: good! Vanden Plas: only convinces me half. But there is a true and mighty winner: the charming, spunky, playful, original, fan - proggin' - tastic Moe-Tar ! I love them All the songs I listened to are VERY good! Best discovery of the modern polls, together with D.F.A.
