as close as to no brainer, vote before I explore, as I will get in these polls (other than Talk Talk's album)

nothing short of a hidden 5'4" freaky redhead masquerading as one of the other 3 album is likely to get me to vote for them over Symphony X's masterpiece. By far my favorite prog-metal album ever...

familar with some of Atheist.. it ain't no redhead that is for sure.. but good at what it is..

never heard of the other 2 but will check them out

Divine Wings, easy. The Sanhedrin sample was interesting but far from captivating, may search for the album at some point but I'm in no rush on this one. Enter is good but I'm no great fan of Post/Math Rock and though I like Atheist I always ranked them as a distant third to Death and Cynic.

So, Symphony X and Sanhedrin didn't do much for me. I like Enter more than Elements but barely. Voted Russian Circles. All you Maiden fans should vote for Enter, this is why:

Okay, there is a post-punk section in the middle but there was some punk on those first Maiden albums.

Sx I paused after less than a minute cos I want to go back and savour that one. I suspect it already has my vote. I do hope they don't spoil it. Unlike Atheist who already have. Take it away, please take it away. Oh man that is simply awful. No, it's just not my cup of tea. I'm sure that those who like it, like it a lot but for me it is another ear bleeder. Russian Circles is a bit more interesting but I doubt I'd rush out and buy it. Sandhedrin has the inside running at this stage. So back to Sx. Curate's egg. Good in parts but, and yes I know this cuts out an awful lot of music for me, but I do not like that style of singing. Guess that's why I am not much into metal. Duh !

Sanhedrin but not with a great deal of enthusiasm.

That Sanhedrin album is utterly divine !
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Ever After! Wow! Clap That one went straight to the top of my to get list. Quite the debut!

Enjoyed the RC one as well, will have to investigate them further.

Atheist and Symphony X I found not to my taste. Got to ask, Micky, as I don't hear it, what sets Symphony X apart from other Dream Theater-ish prog metal? I vastly prefer the original myself.

Brutal!
Went with Divine Wings in the end, although Russian Circles is awesome as well as Atheist. If 'Unquestionable Presence' was the Atheist album, that would have gotten my vote. Really was tempted to go with Russian Circles, but figured Symphony could use a vote more since it was a tossup.

Loooove Russian Circles, saw 'em live - got their merch. Great band. And Enter is my favorite album by them. But i'll vote for Symphony X for a second place.

Symphony X & Atheist don't sound even remotely alike. Might as well say Genesis & Camel sound exactly the same.

Maybe it's because I'm not new to the genre or have a decent ear, but I can hear reasonable amounts of differences between Symphony X and Dream Theater.

One to check here.. just for formalities sake since my beloved Symh X album isn't out of the woods

Sanhedin  -  ex Camel cover band?  enough said.. Good album.. but sounds WAY too much like Camel for me to ever really like.

Atheist...  like.. don't love

so that leaves one to check... the Russian Circles album.  It will have to be a redhead of surpassing freakiness to steal the vote from Symp X... but hey .. stranger things have happened.

Only own one of these & rather surprisingly its Sanhedrin, I think I bought it based on it being on Altrock's sister label Fading. It's a nice album but not one I'd revisit very often with other bands (Camel) doing this sort of stuff better.

Sorry Micky but that Symphony X does nothing for me, can't get past the typical prog metal cliches and too 'nice' vocals. Similarly Atheist didn't do much for me, I'm not really into cookie monster vocals.

The Russian Circles was the one that connected with me the most even if it wasn't all that much.
