I don't think I know any of these. Have a lot of listening to do after I cut the grass.

same here...  I'd say in general I know even fewer of this second batch of moderns than I did the first.

only Spock's Beard do we own anything by.. or even heard.

And Spock's Beard is not exactly. well.. let's say it was good and leave it at that.  I don't care for retro prog. .at least unlike the Flower Kings.. they have some real talent..

BE, though I still say it's the wrong album for them, The Perfect Element is far better. I'm finding RMI quite interesting on first listen, though I doubt I'd give it to them over PoS.

It's between Spock's Beard and Anathema both 5 star albums in my opinion. Went with Anathema this time.

Ok checked the other 3 and none of them did a damn thing for me so RMI gets the vote, love that album.

I think I'm wrong. Pretty sure I checked out all four groups at one point or another. RMI was the only one that grabbed me. Voted for them.

Anathema - Judgement.  What an excellent album.  This is where they nailed down their trademark sound.  Quite an emotional album with the occasional addition of piano and other keyboards, but still retaining that great heavy guitar sound, even with the slower tempo of their music.

Voted for Anathema. Pretty weak list though.

It would ususally be an automatic vote for RMI for me.  However, Emissaries is the only album of theirs that I really don't like much, so I'll cast a vote for V.

Yup. V and Judgement (my favourite Anathema album, but I'm not crazy about them) are just OK in my book. Thought Be was pretty good though.

Almost broke my own rule of only voting for albums I've heard in full. Really enjoyed that Radio Massacre International track, will have to get that album someday.

But in the end I went with Pain of Salivation Tongue

Be is actually the first album from them I've enjoyed. I have Entropia and The Perfect Element, but they do nothing for me. If one of those had been here instead I would've gone with Anathema.

I think most would agree that The Perfect Element or Remedy Lane are much better albums, BE is good but flawed with it's concept getting in the way of music.

As for Anathema, I love The Silent Enigma but anything after Eternity is a real bore, though Judgement can be good and miles ahead of everything else they've done since Alternative Snore.

I'd like to give POS a bit more time. It is quite interesting, Emissaries appears to have no hope I'm leaning towards this though sadly it's prospects are not looking all that chirpy.

V is a curates egg.

Emissaries I'm liking what I've heard thus far.

Judgement, or rather Anathema as a whole,  I did not expect to like at all but its actually pretty damn good though "Hey you.. rotting in your alcoholic shell, Banging on the walls of your intoxicated mind" cuts a bit close to the bone. (No I am not an alcholic but yes I do drink too much) the more I hear, the more I'm liking.

Spock's Beard, V.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

One of my least favorite groups, but oh well... so many good bands in other groups.
Gonna vote for Spock's Beard .
