Hello to everybody.

I started to listen to the early Genesis albums at the age of maybe 12 or 13 years. A few years later, I discovered ELP, King Crimson and Yes. It all started about six years ago when prog became my favourite genre of music. Since then I have collected a lot of albums, not only the classic symphonic prog albums, but also prog music from Italy, Germany, France, Japan, the US and many other countries. I still get surprised when I hear what great prog music has been recorded in countries you would never expect.

What I like in progressive rock is the complexity. Also, I think complex musical structures are the definitive attribute of progressive rock music. I'm particularly obsessed with odd meters and music in 5/4, 7/8, 11/8 and other unusual time signatures gets my attention easily.

Among my favourite bands are Genesis, Yes, Gentle Giant, Van der Graaf Generator, King Crimson, Banco del mutuo soccorso, Magma, and Koenjihyakkei.

But there are also many lesser known bands who recorded only one or two albums. They are too many to make a list of them here, but maybe I'll be able to discuss them in the forum.

Apart from prog rock I also like classical and folk music, jazz fusion, J-pop, post rock and metal.

I hope we'll have some interesting discussions here.
