This album finds JethroTull on the start of a downward slope but I enjoy it. What's your take on the Beast?

Very good album again. Flying Colours and Seal Driver -  , but there's nothing I dislike on the album.

Some strong tracks but beastie and jackalynn have a crap drum sound and pussy willow not much better. Give those drum tracks and the rest a good remix mr Wilson

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

That's a tricky one. I like this era of the band, but the album itself, as good as it is, could have been so much better. I made a playlist of the best songs from this period.

Too many too, motoreyes, seal driver, jackalynn(home version), I'm your gun are better than nearly all those songs imo

I tend to think this was worse than A, but the slope really started with Stormwatch (a poor and uninspired album from the previous line-up), but TB&TB is always better than UW. Technically the slippery slope stopped (and evehn slightly upturned) with the next trilogy (Cret, Island and Catfish), to reach a slight peal with the very giood Roots To Branches

3 stars. I quite like it, and Clasp is among my top Tull songs. Never been a huge fan of JT to be honest. I respect them more than I enjoy them, if that makes sense.

I remember that too - 'Broadsword' re-connected Tull with a rock audience. I recall a great festival at Nostell Priory, Wakefield (UK) in 1982 which confirmed that. Bottom of the bill? An unsigned Marillion!

A good album,with some nice songs,but lacking that stand-out track or two.Clasp,Pussy Willow,Seal Driver are the quality,and i love Cheerio.Nice album cover too!

It is the only album that I do not have and have never heard from Jethro Tull; other than The Christmas Album.

Side 2 is the more listenable side. Clasp has some merit. I hate Beastie. Pussy Willow is darn good up until he starts singing the word "Pussy Willow". Broadsword is kind of alright. Even the better stuff suffers greatly from the horrendous drums, made worse by how prominently they figure in the mix. The whole album is very vocal centric. Much of it could have been helped by giving at least some of the pieces some room to breathe by providing them with some more generous instrumental sections. Seal Driver is one case in point.

^ It took me a long time to really appreciate Stormwatch. I love it nowadays, save for the wretched Home, probs my least liked Tull song.

Seal driver is the best track on the album, I'm your gun the catchiest on the remaster and too many too the best recording from that year. The home version is miles better. Has no horrible drums
