Focus - Cynic Crack The Skye - Mastodon
These are also favorites of mine, but I cannot have everything on my list. Just choosing albums from favorite groups is hard when I like many of them equally. I just bought Nothingface and Dimension Hatröss at the same time, and I think I like Dimension Hatröss a little better. Both are great though!
I tried to resist just using new releases on my list because I am enjoying them at the moment.

I've never been a huge fan of "traditional" prog metal - it's either too much or not enough (read bland). Generally, i'm just picky with it. Kind of like Neo-Prog. I might need to check out some of these.

I also love Fates Warning and everything associated with it. I could have chosen almost any Fates album as a favorite. My music folder has 298 music groups, so I left a bunch out. :)
Anyone new to the genre cannot go wrong with top releases listed on the main page:

After That I tried a little bit of everything progressive music (besides everything prog also balkan folk, Piazzola, Dave Brubeck, Kronos Quartet ...). Currently staying mostly with symph prog, prog folk and some jazz but I still like some prog metal from time to time.

very tough.. as Prog Metal is (well next to Neo.. so don't ever expect me to do a list of favorite neo albums haha) my least favorite branch of prog rock. However there are some albums I really do love...and some I really do like.
In fact I came up with 6 I love and can and will listen to at the drop of the hat
1. Swing Diablo Orchestra - Pandora's Pińata
2. Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy
3. Opeth - Ghost Reveries
4. Agalloch - The Mantle
5. Mastodon - Leviathan
6. Indukti - S.U.S.A.R.
6 more I really liked in my explorations but don't listen to much these days.....
7. Devin Townsend - Terria
8. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
9. Orphaned Land -
Mabool
10. Isis - Wavering Radiant
11. Pelican - The Fire in our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw
12. Riverside - Second Life Syndrome
well... I needed to get to 15 and I wracked my brain and couldn't think of 3 more that had really grabbed me over my time here at PA's... but then I thought again. Avant hasn't been the only branch I really discovered some great albums.
so to finish it.. 3 from the bands/albums polls I really loved and in time surely would have been part of a favorite 15 and will likely join the first 6.
13. Cynic - Traced in Air
14. Thought Industry - Songs for Insects
15. Unexpect - In A Flesh Aquarium

Many will discount a lot of these for not being Prog Metal but to me they sound a damn sight heavier than what passes for PM.
UneXpect - Fables Of The Sleepless Empire Tool - Laterus Diablo Swing Orchestra - Singalong Songs Of The Damned & Delirious Behold ... The Arctopus - Horrorscension Animals As Leaders - Weightless Ephemeral Sun - Harvest Aorta Iron Maiden - Powerslave Stolen Babies - There Will Be Squabbles Alamaailman Vasarat - Huuro Kolkko Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Of Natural History Dr Nerve - Skin Zevious - After The Air Raid Electric Masada - At The Mountains Of Madness Many Arms - Suspend Definition Hyrrokkin - Pristine Origin
