III has some amazing songs, one of the best Zeppelin albums. Immigrant Song, Tangerine, Friends, Celebration Day, Since I've Been Loving You, etc. Although it declines a bit in the end is a really great album.

oh I know what the point is. One might hope that one in doing a poll like this, knowing most everyone knows Zep and perhaps some to many not knowing the Armageddon album, that they might be inspired to check out the group in order to cast an informed vote.. or perhaps to find something they haven't heard before.

It, and albums like it, are the pots of gold you find at the end of the prog rainbow once you finally get tired of listening to the same old sh*t of the prog masters and you explore deeper into wealth of the genre that never attained the same level of notoriety of fandom acclaim.

I know. I'm reasonably familiar with what became of the Yardbirds. For various reasons (promotion, backing) Armageddon and Captain Beyond, Andromeda and a few others are really this kind of footnote, second tier type band but they should not be forgotten. Which is roughly the point of these polls.

yeah.. but against LZ the more jazzy, and IMO simply not as good, second album would be out of place. We are talking hammer of the Gods kind of sh*t man.

Few albums compare to the best of LZ in kicking ass...n the realms of prog like the first Captain Beyond.

Or Captain Beyond's second, a bit more jazzy and also really good.

It was worth comparing the contemporary accomplishments of both the former Yardbirds' singers.

Armageddon is a good album and I've had the vinyl version since it came out.
The first three Zep albums have always been my favorites and of those, III is the best.

strange poll.. but this forum lives for them

yeah man.. Armageddon is a good album... and that is about it.Now put Captain Beyond's debut, another seminal heavy prog album with that something special in it, against LZIII and it might get more interesting...

I never really liked Led Zeppelin, but I always did love Steamhammer and Armageddon. So, my choice is rather obvious.

I haven't listened to Armageddon yet

there's also a band called Armaggedon, they're British if my memory serves me and they released an album in 1970.

Confusing (LOL)

Armageddon is a decent hard rock LP but we are talking about Zep 3 here....

I initially read Armageddon S/T to mean the soundtrack to the Bruce Willis movie of the same name which featured a couple of Aerosmith songs.  I've not actually heard the Armageddon s/t so can't vote, but I'd be surprised if my vote weren't for Zep III.

LZ III easily - their best album.

Not a great contest.

Why not, please tell me? both lps were released by 70s heavy rock bands. Armageddon was even regarded as a heavy rock "supergroup" - short lived one, though.
