BLUE FLOYD endeavors to deconstruct the classic compositions of the legendary PINK FLOYD into their primal, elemental form. As much an homage to the influence of Howlin' Wolf, Willie Dixon and Muddy Waters as a rediscovery of both FLOYD classics and rarities, BLUE FLOYD plays iconoclastically familiar songs, heard again as if for the first time.

BEGINS features the original BLUE FLOYD line-up of Allen Woody (Gov't Mule / Allman Brothers Band), Matt Abts (Gov't Mule / Dickey Betts Band), Marc Ford (The Black Crowes / Burning Tree), Johnny Neel (The Allman Brothers Band), Berry Oakley Jr. (Robby Krieger / Bloodline).

with trepidation, but intrigued, i checked out a youtube of them playing wish you were here.  i think that in this context 'deconstructing the classic compositions of the legendary pink floyd into their primal, elemental form' means 'kind of boring versions of floyd songs, but with mandolin too'

perhaps there are better tracks out there.  in my head i could maybe hear snippets of Muddy Waters' version of comfortably numb, or dogs, and that sounded cool

Hmm...thought this was kind of cool.....seems to fit the song.

btw one of the guys being from Govt Mule makes sense since they have a rep for covering all kinds of classic  prog rock songs.
