He made a Kobe fadeaway move, playing along, having fun. Then, as they got further down the street, the douchebag in the truck yelled, "What are you doing in a white neighborhood?"

Jesus, he's just a kid. He certainly doesn't need to deal with that kind of bullsh*t.

This is the same park where, about a month ago, we passed by a couple of guys kicking out a large swastika in the dirt by one of the picnic benches. When we made our circuit around the park and saw what they had drawn out, we kicked it all to dust again. I'm constantly amazed that such ideas as those appeal to people anymore.

that's f**ked up, both stories. where was this?

^ Hm ... Google has the definition of the word "redneck" as ... :

Quote a working-class white person, especially a politically reactionary one from a rural area

... which (and I gotta be man enough to admit it) is different from how I understood the word many years ago.

What upset me today? Putting my back out trying to rip some tree roots out of the ground while gardening before work, going into work anyway and taking some painkillers, and now my head's swimming in such a thick fog I can barely remember my own name!

Yardwork can be extremely difficult, sweaty, painful work--  I never go near it without thick gloves, some good music and a tall pitcher of lemonade on hand (with some scotch nearby for later).

It's the "politically reactionary" part that's worth criticizing though, not being rural white working class. I'm pretty annoyed with how many left-wing arguments boil down to some variation of "look at how low-status our opponents are!" because how obviously hypocritical they are, yet I see them coming from even otherwise intelligent people.

The left and right both claim a moral high ground in everything they proclaim, but in truth bigotry and hypocrisy spans the political spectrum.

It's a newsflash to some that a socialist can be a sh*thead, but believe me they can. They really can. They can also be racist, self obsessed and mean.

As for rednecks, I don't know enough about that rather generalised demographic, but it appears that some people tend to band together KKK members and someone who owns a farm and just wants to feed their family together under that redneck banner, along with anyone who thinks free speech is under threat. The overall perception is of a toothless simpleton who screws his sister, drinks Mountain Dew and takes selfies with the confederate flag flapping around in the background.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Well, "redneck" refers as much to ethnicity and social class as to political loyalty.
