As a hardcore Swans fan, you've hooked me with that quote. What album do you recommend to start at?

I actually think Given to the Rising is the best album to start with, since it's a good synthesis of their different signature styles. If you like the fast punky parts the most, get Pain of Mind and The Word as Law. If you like the noisy heavy parts the most, then go on with Souls at Zero up to Through Silver in Blood. If you like the spacey psychedelic parts the most, then proceed to Times of Grace through The Eye of Every Storm.

Before:
Love those drums!!!
Fun fact about this album: For something like a year I thought it was a guy behind the vocalsLOL Inga is also a damn strange name for a man...even in Germany.

Now:
I've been getting into this album lately after a good yearlong hiatus (maybe two). The sound in particular is what draws me in - that heavy and raw production that come to think of it rather reminds me of the first Banco album - both in terms of production but also in the way that both frolic in theatrical almost operatic vocals, hard hitting guitar riffs, furious classical piano stints and a cement mixer behind the drum kit.

“The Guide says there is an art to flying or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.”

- Douglas Adams
