Final Cut over Dark Side and Piper?? Heresy!

Not heresy, just a matter of taste. I would place The Final Cut between Dark Side and Piper.

I was talking more about the 1968-80 albums.
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Obscured by Clouds by a hair. Then Animals, DSOTM, The Wall, Meddle and WYWH
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Either Animals or Atom Heart Mother. Those are the only two I've heard that I can say I really like. Wish You Were Here is okay too, but only for Shine On.

Favorites are at both "bookends" of the spectrum: the zanniness and 60's creative range of Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and the rockiness and 70's-ness of Animals and Gilmour at his most useful. The middle of the range is well satisfied with More, Ummagumma, and Obscured By Clouds. I'd put those in the Top 5.

Ummagumma
Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. It's just not on MTV.

That apparently happens when we "progess" (he he) to 2-star rating, and Forum Groupie. You'll get there eventually :-)

(That hasn't happened a long time. My mirror does not show a new person when I stare at it.)

2nd best Floyd for me, Obscured By Clouds.
