I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet.

Sean Reinert posted the following on Facebook last Thursday:

"It is with a heavy heart that I post today's CYNIC news. CYNIC is no longer an active band. Due to artistic and personal differences, the second chapter in the ‘BOOK OF CYNIC’ has come to an end..."

I'm pretty disappointed since I had a ticket to see them here in Berlin next month. I was seriously looking forward to that concert.

C'est la vie, Marie.
"Es ist übrigens unmöglich, eine Meinung zu haben, ohne dass es unerfreuliche Überschneidungen gibt. Die Grünen sind für den deutschen Wald, die NPD ebenfalls."

CryCryCryCryCryCry I feel like this should have more attention. That's really sad. Not often do I like Prog Metal but Cynic has been an exception for me.
There is no dark side in the moon, really... Matter of fact, it's all dark...

From what i've read it has been more of a falling out with Sean. The rest of Cynic want to continue.

I was sad about the breakup when I heard about it too. I´ll be surprised if they continue with Cynic without Sean. Paul has always been the primary songwriter, but Sean Means a lot to their sound. I´d much rather hear Paul do something else. I´m sure Sean will also pop up as a session musician in various other Projects. They are both too talented to call their music careers quits.

Well, the official Facebook page hasn't been updated since the break-up post.

Paul and Sean Malone did play a show in Cologne on Oct. 3 with drummer Matt Lynch (Trioscapes), but it remains to be seen if they'll be able to continue under the 'Cynic' moniker without Sean Reinert.

I completely missed this, sad to see the end of the band though hopefully they'll return again.

I'm glad I got to see them at least, back in 2008 when Traced in Air came out.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005
