Hi, guys..!

I'm new here and english is not my native language but I'm gonna make the effort anyways...

As students of literature and listeners of prog music like you, a friend of mine and I had an idea for a college paper related to a seminary we are attending: "Influences of Dante's Divina Commedia in artistic expression in recents centuries". We want to compare how is treated this topic in music, (lyrically, compositionally, as a unity, reformulations, etc.) and as we all know, there is a big space for larger and conceptual compositions in prog.

We have searched and found some bands who work with it.

- METAMORFOSI:

- BRASSÉ

- IL GIRO STARNO

- TANGERINE DREAM

Are you aware of any other band which some of his works are linked with this issue..?

Thank you very much..!

Indeed! The three canticas of the Divina Commedia have received the full prog treatment, courtesy of the Colossus Project. Here's the links to all the three 4-CD sets:

I only know Inferno by Metamorfosi, and I really love that album.

Amazing answers..!

I'll check everything with some time. Especially Raff suggestions. What Colossus Project has done is as magnanimous as the work of Dante in question. Almost half day of music.

Thanks Progmind, I'll listen the album soon. And yes, Dellinger, it is a great album.

On the first CD of the Colossus Project's Inferno the Greenwall's track "Come Corpo Morto Cade" is great! For Italian speakers, the lyrics are taken directly from Dante's 6th "chant" and is the Story of "Paolo and Francesca".

Also Tangerine Dream have released their version:

Curiosity killed a cat, Schroedinger only half.

Not completely inspired by Dante but surely influenced (as William Blake was influenced)

Most recent I have come across to be based around Dante's Divine Comedy would be Symphony X's Underworld album. Explores the 7 circles of hell and the devil's many forms.
Lots of fun. ;)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣
