yeah...  disappointing. Very. Meet someone who is actually doing good work in the name of the church... there are surely some out there. Scratching my head on that one.. and more than a little disappointed.

Good will earned by the album and his visit.. now burned to hell... a fresh reminder why I left the church. Even a progressive Pope is still stuck in dark ages kind of thoughts... no hope for the Church. Cry

^It didn't wreck anything to me. Another death row inmate that gets religion. If more people got there religion on before ending up on the death row, truly contemplating peace and love...

^ kim davis isn't a death row inmate, but rather the Kentucky clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay people.

This Pope may be forward thinking, but if anyone thinks that he doesn't tow the thousand year old Church line, they are mistaken. He's a Pope, not a social revolutionary, like Jesus.

^No problem. My dentist was also disappointed in this, he was hoping for something new too, but like The Who said: Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss!

That's why so much of that era's music is timeless! LOL

As we're on a more serious track, I guess the Pope will go in RPI. I'm sure a few will like to review his Holiness.

^I'm very disappointed too, and more than a bit annoyed with myself for hoping that this one would be different.

Though I have heard him described by clergy as a "Christian radical".

Just for the record David, the Pope is against contraceptives, abortion and gay marriage, just to name a few of his views. Where he differs is in regards to the general treatment of people. For example, he believes that a gay person should not be a victim of hate crimes, be treated with respect and not ostracized. But that's as far as it goes.

Just to make people feel better, I do agree with Bill Maher that the Pope probably turns on. He does make prog music you know.

Emigre,

I think the Pope would be right to fire the Archbishop for surprising him with that unplanned meeting.

Kim Davis refusal to issue same sex licenses makes me think that she is an ignorant woman with total lack of empathy towards others, she is an embarrassment and her stance against gay marriage due to her "religious beliefs" are one-sided. I wonder if she has issued marriage licenses to divorcees?

The news also said today that a gay priest has been fired from the Vatican. I see nothing wrong with this because gay or not, Catholic priests swear to celibacy.

It's kinda funny because the "meeting" evidently was nothing more than a brief hello among a room full of other brief hellos.  That was it.  No arrangement, no informing the Pope about this 'brave soul fighting for her religious rights'.  Mostly hype.  But now as always, the real scandal is the aftermath.
