The manner of Lennon' singing on Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite! is not Rock / Art Rock, because Lennon's singing contains a nuance of a chorus for example like this, and with the music that creates an atmosphere of a circus poster from 19th century (what actually inspired Lennon for the song), that is prog regarding Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite!.

You seem to suggest that  the art rock sung lines should remain simple and free from meanders so as to stand out of the remaining lines. Interesting that someone suggest it. Now this is not a widespread way to distinguish art rock and prog... Have you discussed it with encyclopedists ?

LOL Why should I discuss with the encyclopaedists (are you think on Nick Logan and Bob Woffinden? Big smile) despite all of these prog gods who scribble on these forums?

Do I think of Nick Logan and Bob Woffinden ? Well, no, but you don't seem to trust them into ever getting the right points do you ?

Like anything that makes life (and communication) easier, it'd mean no b*llsh*t to persuade encyclopedists, would it.

If we could read on Wikipedia about the points you're defending here it'd help us agree.

Nohing really spectacular if a voter of Talk Talk says so.

Not me, I voted Anglagard. Pretty amazing that I manage to differentiate two bands, liking one and not the other, no idea how I managed that.

It's not true that I hate Spirit of Eden. In fact, I wrote at the 1st page on this thread, in my reply to octopus-4, that Spirit of Eden is a great 80s art rock album:

I've never liked Japan but David Sylvian solo career is excellent. Plight and Premonitions with Holger Czuckay is great.
And sorry...I didn't like the pop Talk Talk and even if there's people saying that they converted to prog I never felt the need to explore them.
So I admit my ignorance regarding them.

And I'm writing this only because I'm quoted above.

Luca, not liking them is perfectly OK. There's plenty of stuff I dislike too. What I (and others) object to is trying to prove a bogus theory by using a perfectly harmless poll as a springboard.

Not that "don't like", actually I hate New Wave in general, both British and our domestic, Yugoslav version. There are few albums by New Wave bands that I like, but they are atypical for the genre. For example, Spirit of Eden is Art Rock album and so receive my sympathy. But, Talk Talk's hits are disgusting.

This story is interesting phenomenologicaly. Old fans of New Wave sh*t are raped our beloved genre with pushing Talk Talk in, on the basis of a single album which is 80s Art Rock / Ambient. And Talk Talk is not an isolated case, there is Japan, Šarlo Akrobata as avant progLOL and so on.

In your opinion, if you don't like it you could always leave.

Again with the rape. (Now I'm getting a kick out of this.) Only this time you are really hitting it out of the park. Are you trying to put stand-up comedians out of work?

Question: Who raped the fans? [Hand-on-hand smack]

C'mon Dayvenkirq, what other word to use when you see e.g. that this band is pushed in Prog Archives? I'm sorry, but the word *rape* is accurate.

I smell a personal agenda. I see you've given it a one star rating. Sounds like a fit for avant to me. Might even buy it.

Buy their whole avant prog catalogue which is compressed in one punk / new wave album LOL
