Which Germans make you most want to plug in your lava lamp: Popol the Vuh or Amon the Duul?

A whole seven great albums almost give ADII a definitive nod, but Hosianna Mantra is enough to balance things out.

Undoubtedly for me its POPOL VUH - Back in the 70's when I first bought "In The Garden Of Pharaoh ('71)" scared the dickens out of me. I didn't know what to make of this unsettling music - But it's also what perked up my rather precarious curiosity to continue and I wasn't disappointed with "HOSIANNA MANTRA (' 72)" - Blissfully enchanting it slowly drew you in and lulled you to continue listening - I found it difficult to describe their music but meditative, with Gregorian-like choirs, florid piano passages, oboes, drone-like guitars, sitars, and tambouras-

Then came the Werner Herzog film soundtracks (Aguirre, Nosferatu) and I was back with Popol Vuh -

Nope. Nope. Can't Do. Both.
There is no dark side in the moon, really... Matter of fact, it's all dark...
