Probably my favorite song of all time, and I always wonder if songs come close to this from either ELP or any other artist.

That's pretty typical ELP.....very similar to the first album and things from Brain Salad......and of course Tarkus, especially the title track , has all those elements also.

ELP can really only be imitated not duplicated because of Keith Emerson but David Sancious (in his effort) comes pretty close.

Many songs from the little-known American prog group 'Glass Hammer' come close to this.  The main keyboardist - Fred Schendel - admits that Keith Emerson (and Rick Wakeman) are significant influences in his songwriting and keyboard (especially Moog synth) playing...

If you like the synth work in Trilogy then listen to the live version of Aquatarkus on Welcome Back My Friends, just brilliant.

If you like ELP, you certainly ought to check out the first four albums by Triumvirat.

Wuhan is great. I refuse to play a set without it.

Trilogy is fairly unique for ELP as its very 'arty'. Normally ELP are more instrumental driven (on 'E's side ) or more song driven (on 'L's side) but this was a deliberate attempt to fuse the different disparate parts of ELP together. I can't think of anything like it and ELP couldn't seem to get to grips with it live.

I love Glass Hammer but they are more veering strongly towards Yes in style although Chronomotree is their 'ELP album' if you want ELP sounds (but is more akin to Tarkus than Trilogy).

All interesting suggestions, but at the end of the day there is NOTHING like Trilogy. It is uniquely placed in the world of prog. Even ELP themselves never replicated this masterpiece of music. If I was only allowed to hear one album for the rest of my life it would be Trilogy and I would never tire of it.
Thank you for supporting independently produced music
