An interesting choice, and really seeing forward to seeing this result.

Without emotion, most music doesn't touch you. Though renewing/creativity/progressiveness is very very important too, especcially prog.

Also I think it'd be very nice to see some percentages.

My thoughts:
Renewing 65% - emotion 35%
Main reason is because creative new things makes most (old) music worth remembering. IMO the best tracks are mainly the best because of progressive new things and not only emotion. I can listen (and also many more times) very well to very renewing and not emotional music, but emotional cliché music is getting a bit boring though I think.
Also being renewing takes much more than playing something emotional. Of course this is all very subjective, but though emotion is def. essential.

Wow...LOL

Sorry, but I've never ever thought of music like that. I generally don't like to mix numbers and music.
Then again I do have some kind of synaesthesia in that I see colours, lights and shapes when I listen to music, so I'm far more occupied with the ride and feel of it all.

^ English might not be his native tongue. I think he meant innovation/creativity.

Emotion vs. innovation. If you put a gun to my head, I'd say "emotion", some kind of a connection with the music. But I'd rather have both because I get sick of hearing the same set of artists/bands over and over again.

I agree with Gulli. If you want math, talk about math. If you want music, you talk about music. To me both creativity and emotion are important qualities, no matter what the math is.

Ah - understandable. Not quite sure how I missed that - it is too early for me.

How about finding new ways of doing emotional music?

It would be really good if the OP could edit his title thread and original post to change Renewing for Innovation, as mentioned before, I believe that's what was actually meant.

I suppose I don't really value either. I guess renewing.

Why not both? I find both to be very important elements in the music I listen to.

1. Just @edit post, like you normally edit a post

2. No they aren't and also it's (obviously) the best when combined, but what do you think is more important?

Good point. I voted for innovation. If it's a valuable innovation, emotion will likely result. Fascination is one of my favorite emotions.
