These are 7 albums I consider have benefitted from a lot of time spent in refining the music, arrangements, instrumentation, lyrics and overall consistency. I know there are many more equally well thought out albums but these are my picks.
Apart from playing favourites, which album do you think has the most thoughtful consideration to composition, arrangement, instrumentation, performance and lyrics?

That's two for the Lamb. 100% of the vote. Hope we run away with this.

I saw Rick Wakeman interviewed about CTTE.

He himself was frustrated by the enormous amount of time the others spent arguing, debating, refining and honing every note on the album.

He just wanted to get out for a pint and a curry.

Despite Eno's use of systems theory, I have to go with the Dan on this!

That's an interesting word....and I think all of those albums were done with great care but I suppose CTTE and Lamb were the most 'complex' in terms of structures.
But it is well known that Steely Dan were very specific and took great care to record, write , and decide upon musicians for their music so I would put them in the running also. I'm sure Fripp et al also took pains to get it the way they wanted.
I have no idea how 'meticulous' the other albums were in their making .

One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

Either Genesis or KC.

I'll go the former this time.

Seems The Lamb shouldn't qualify since the lyricist/singer came in after all the music was done.

In Bill Bruford's bio he comments on the number of hours of discussion, practice and nitpicking went into Close to the Edge.
