I haven't had a chance to try him yet, but I've read good reviews of T (Thomas Thielen). Here is his page on Prog Archives.
Many following are not really bands/projects and not strictly prog rock, but rather musicians playing progressive-influenced music on solo albums. Mike Oldfield plays a lot of instruments on his albums, but usually has a few guest musicians. His 1999 album Guitars was a one-man project, though. Former Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips has also recorded many albums that only feature him on guitar, piano and synths. Vangelis played all instruments on his 1976 album Albedo 0.39. Even though he is listed as prog-related, that album is quite progressive. I also recommend Jon Anderson's solo album Olias of Sunhillow. Ex-Rainbow keyboard player Tony Carey released a couple of solo albums under the name Planet P Project. I'm not sure what genres you're looking for, but there are a lot of solo musicians in the Progressive Electronic category, such as Klaus Schulze, Edgar Froese, Zanov, etc. |

Klaus Schulze's early efforts see him playing all sorts of organs, synths, acoustic guitar, drums and trumpet. Picture Music and Blackdance are both great examples of this.

^ Klaus' music feels like a one-man universe.

The Flying Luttenbachers were more usually a "brutal prog" power trio. But on two albums - Systems Emerge from Complete Disorder and Incarceration by Abstraction - Weasel Walter (drummer / composer / main man) laid down all instruments himself (as well as producing). Meaning as a minimum that he played guitar, bass and drum parts but in the case of Incarceration by Abstraction also mellotron, organ, electronics and clarinet.
I would need to dig out the CDs and check liner notes but I am fairly sure that on at least one of those albums the recording is said to have been done on a single day. Which - given the complexity of the music - would imply a fairly extreme level of rehearsal, discipline in performance and coffee intake. Edited by Mascodagama - October 11 2015 at 15:42 |

Try out EUREKA. German mastermind Frank Bossert plays all instruments, writes all songs, produces them and is only inviting guest performers to work with him on his project.
