Edgar Froese certainly qualifies. He played everything — guitars, synthesizers, sequencing, piano, programming, and other instruments — on his solo albums.

There's also Heart In Mouth, one man project of Pierre Blin:

There's just one album, The Bigger Picture, which was released as a CD on Paradigms. Rather a nice record to drift away on.

( I don't expect the greatest of all one-man bands to achieve even greater music when playing in a "normal" band. But if one hasn't found ideal partners, it's a great way to dig music alone, thank to incredible computers !! )

Many more one man bands to be found ! Unmentioned yet, that I've noticed so far :

Monster with a feeble infantlike weeping voice , I'm really into that kind of moods.

Some drums wizardry & nice contrapunct now and then

Oh yeah I know one! Me, Pascal van den Dool!

Just made a preview for my new album I'm working on:

I make symphonic rock. I started with (classical and cinematic) orchestral music and slowly switched to more and more rock.

If You composed, mixed, plying instruments or even did this on computer i must says It's great Job! Of course it needs some works to improve but anyway sounds very interesting, reminds me Floyds and also love with orchestral arrangements, ... Great work Mate!

It just occurred to me that we missed one of the really good ones, Nerve Institute (aka Mike Judge). Two excellent albums on Altr0ck:

https://altrockproductions.bandcamp.com/album/architects-of-flesh-density

The guy is something of a musical polymath. Apart from engineering / producing, on the earlier album he's credited with electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitar, drums, percussion, piano, Rhodes electric piano, Wurlitzer electric piano, organ, synthesizers, Mellotron, banjo, mandolin, bowed strings, thumb piano, scrap metal, tin cans, tenor saxophone, vocals, tape loops, electronics, and digital manipulation. He can sing as well.

My friend, Mychael Pollard, has a ton of talent (keyboards & drums), check out his Moog doodles!

I am a "one man" prog artist :D Recently started a brand new project that I'm asking you very kind hearted prog fans to contribute to! I've always been a huge prog fan and my music takes a lot of influence from my prog heros... Take a look at this entry I just posted and take a listen to some of the demos (or the previous project's music) if you are interested!! Thanks so much to all who listen, share and contribute!

Hey guys!! So, I'm very excited to announce that I'll be releasing a new EP under the name Story! This project is basically Prog meets Singer/Songwriter - I've always been a huge fan of 70's Prog guys like Genesis, Yes, Rush, etc. but I've also always loved artists like Ben Folds, Imogen Heap and Tears For Fears, just to name a few of my non-prog influences. I used to release music under the name "onevoice" (music here: https://onevoiceofficial.bandcamp.com) but now I've moved on to a new project where the music has made it into the studio - I've worked with an incredible team for this album and I promise it will not disappoint! Now, I'm asking for donations and they would be so incredibly appreciated!! I've just started an Indiegogo campaign and will be asking for help making this record sound and look as incredible as possible. I'm determined to make this the best work I've ever released and any help in funding this thing would be so so so incredibly appreciated! You can listen to demos on the Indiegogo page and hear about the concept behind the music in the video on the page! Thanks again so much people, any contributions or sharing of this link would make me beyond happy :D <3

Much love,
Dan "Ello" Costello
