I have this fear that communism might be wasted if we continue to own mass-produced items simply through tradition or anti-social mindsets/egoism.

Apart from a toothbrush, towel and laptop, there's not much else I want to own.

I'm pretty fond of my toilet and roof.

Even if you have to work twice as many hours to buy stuff than you would if it was common property?
Sorry, but what's the advantage of owning a house if it's affordable to travel and stay in youth hostels?

I'm not trying to make people feel ashamed for buying property, I just don't understand why you would want to
when under communism it would be cheaper to rent.

A simple thing to understand is: what will be abolished in communism is the private property of the means of production (just to use this to-much-repeated terms), and not personal belongings...

You could even put a house or a appartement as personal belongings, since everyone have the right to have a home (of course this is a lot more complex, but I'll not make a thesis here).

So... this question is stange, at least.

Everyone works according to their ability, and takes the goods in an amount that really needs; money does not exist anymore. Scientific and technological level is at the top and evenly distributed at the planet, manufactures belong to the whole community (<this detail was already achieved in former Yugoslavia, for the first time in the history of mankind), while wars are extinct; the wars are rejected by mankind as a product of outdated political, bourgeois, nationalist , religious, imperial and other reasons which are all extinct. This would be way of living on the planet Earth in Star Trek, although in the series it is not called *communism* for obvious reasons, and according to Marx's books Smile

There will be civil war before there is fullblown communism in the west, and the limp-wristed leftists who larp about that kind of thing would be the first ones up against the wall - "from each according to their ability" still requires you to actually have ability.

You still have all your own stuff in a communist society. You don't share your stick of deodorant with the entire town or anything like that.

Whatever I have ready for the upcoming garage sale (books, CDs, caps, extra clothes, aluminum cans, plastic bottles) you can have. The rest of my s%!t I'll have to hide from everyone, including the government (I mean hiding from the government, not hiding the government from ... well, ... you know what I mean).

I would own my freedoms: freedom of speech, movement, religion, ideology, vote , travel, work and thought. As for art and music, don't touch.....
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.
